Hi There, I Am fully Aware that Markers which have been modified to fire on full automatic are illegal, But what about the upgrades like the Tippmann A-5 Response Trigger and E-Grip? Now the E-grip gives you 4 different rates of fire, single, 3 shot, auto and tournament. And the response trigger reacts to your finger pulling the trigger and resetting it sort of making the rate of fire much faster. I have a response trigger that took me ages to put on, with limited instructions as well, so is this illegal? And if it is then why do UK paintball shops stock the Tippmann A-5 With the e-grip or response trigger? Its a bit like saying "Hey, you can buy this, but you aren't ever allowed to use it."

it is still 1 shot per trigger pull but its the mechanics of the response trigger making it seem like auto. There is a cylinder in the handle grip with a pump and pin. A bit like a syringe plunger and the pin comes out of the handle and rests behind the trigger. When you pull the trigger you fire the ball and another bit of gas is released into the cylinder and the pin pushes the trigger back out resetting it. So it is basically 1 shot per trigger pull. However the pressure of your finger pushing the trigger back in after it has reset is so fast that it seems like it is automatic. My gun only seems to fire about 3-4 shots. then the response trigger stops for a bit. But saying that if marshalls have a problem, then i can adjust it so it fires as normal again

Location, Location.
trust us - the RT trigger is illegal, you pull the trigger and hold it in a certain position which allows for it to continue firing. In the eyes of the law that is full auto...

Ah right i see well the reason I ask, is because some of my friends are also friendly with the police, particularly the firearms officers who also play paintball, and they were asked this and they wern't sure about it, they all gave mixed opinions because it is a gray area. And it also depends on the force of which area you come from. a bit like which force will let you off with speeding and others that will put points on your licence if you know what i mean. Its one of those things where it is very controversial but because it is such a small issue the police do not feel that a prosecution can be held in court. Legal or not. I do understand what you both are saying and I don't mean to dispute your mssages at all, or seem a cocky know it all co's I'm not. Top respect to the both of you there.

i know what your trying to say m8,but if you do get caught and prosecuted, you can expect up to 5 years in a small room with some rather unsavory room mates;)
the home office classafie(spelling) p8nt markers as air weapons, auto air weapons are illegal in the uk.
is it worth the risk, also most tourney players will not be pleased if you bring a illegal marker to a event:( ,pb also does not need anymore bad press if you do get caught:cool:

yes thats not a problem. I Only use my A-5 with my mates. (Not drivebys that is stupid and dangerous.) One of my mates dad is a farmer and has a bit of woodland, so we mess around in there, so basically no predestrians or anyone else will be in the way. As far as tournaments go I wouldn't take it to any of them anyway.

Without getting too confusing ;) If you own a marker that is capable of full auto or 3 shot per trigger pull then you own an illegal weapon (doesn't matter where you use the marker a field in the middle of nowhere or your own back garden)...capable is defined by flicking a switch...no switch and regardless of whatever software is locked in the memory you are ok...this is how Angels are legal as the software locks are only removed when the marker is sold in countrys that allow full auto fire;)
Not that it is particulary relevant to paintball markers (due to size contraints) but if you had a jack plug that when not in place you had one shot per pull but when inserted it gave the modes then as soon as that jack plug is put in place the marker becomes illegal. The jack plug thing was done years ago to "allow" the sale of Cobra 627 (?) SSB CB radios.

As far as the RT is concerned they are legal for use in the UK but not tournaments when set up (via input pressure) to go into runaway or reactive mode...depends on your definition.
