Hmmm several thoughts...

Ryan : Yep that was me, cheers for the help mate, it made chris' day to be able to play with a gun that could chrony above 140 :D
How did you guys do in the end?

John: That was in E-mode and if you explain what a ULT kit is I'll tell you :) I do have an old lvl 7 bolt but I'm pretty sure you shouldn't put them onto X-mags though I could be wrong. I have a sneaky suspicion it could be the on/off playing up, I got a bunch of info off the automag forum so I'm going to investigate a bit more tonight.

Rob: I guess it's a simple fix currently, so if I either can't fix it later on or simply make it a whole lot worse then I'll pop over to see you in the shop.

cheers for the help as always folks,

Chimp

The ULT kit is a light trigger pull kit for the Mag, it replaces the stock on-off with a much lighter one which requires 'tuning' with shims to work properly.

I was just thinking if you had one of those then it might be causing the problems with multiple shots per trigger pull.
It sounds as though you dont have one...

I dont see why you cant use the stock bolt on an Xmag, since none of the parts that matter have been changed in years (due to them still being able to out perform most modern markers).
Better to be safe than sorry I spose...

I would suggest you let Robtatoo have a look at it. Most simple problems can be diagnosed very easily once the gun is in the hands of an experienced tech.

Current state of play...

Ok armed with the odd diagram of what the hell goes where, I stripped the valve-bolt assy last night to have a good old poke around in true tinkerer style.

Things I learnt:

~ I have no shim behind the carrier in front of the backing vespel o-ring. This is a touch odd but I left it as it was.

~ That you can't 'release' the trigger sear and get the bolt off when the frame is in 'trigger' mode. this causes suprise when you change the mode and pull the trigger and you have to catch the bolt-valve assy as it launches backwards....

~ Everything is in place, appears non-worn and is lightly lubed.

So I put it all back together and what do yo know? It now works fine.....

So that'll be me mostly confused then, your thoughts on the relative importance of the shim (I figure it was there for spacing to get the bolt venting at the right point but I could be wrong) or lack of it always welcome. I think i'll pop round and see you at some point Rob as I don't want it going semi or auto in the middle of a game, that wouldn't be too clever.

John, nope I don't think I have the ULT kit, the trigger pull is controlled by magnets and grub screws on mine.

Cheers folks,

Chimp

i seem to remember the shims control how far the bolt comes forward before the lv.x kicks in. i used to run with no shims as i had some bolt stick problems when the lx.x was way too sensative. see how you get on with no shims and using just the eye.

for the multishots per pull, make sure you are'nt in hybrid mode, thats gun power on and the trigger lever pushed forward .. this is when you you get 2 shots per pull and it goes mental with the reactivness, good fun for rec days. the lever should be down down e-mode.

and no ult's on x-mags or lv7, something to do with the on/off pin i think.
