We cover ourselves in padding to go and play on a grass field!! On some rougher ground or woodland fields given it can be nessesary, but on grass? you dont see rugby players wearing knee pads or elbow pads do you. (and they dive about a lot more than we do)

erm. think again. played a sevens tournament today in hereford. i myself have a pair of gloves, also to help my handling and a pair of shoulder pads to make me look big. and i have seen a couple of players with arm/elbow protectors. oh and of course the scrum caps for ya head.
the smaller things like extra layers, cycling shorts, and all rugby shorts are thicker than general shorts. so no, we arent becoming pussies. just being safe

its all about technique, the bigger they are, the harder they fall. and dont get ya head in the way, couple of concussions has helped me realise this
