Thanks for the feedback guys, its always interesting to know your views and Luke, im SO GLAD it arrived! :)

ive sent you a PM mate

Appreciate what you say mate.Thanks. what marker wee you using the apex on ?

Initialy the ONLY reason i bought an apex was to see if the claimed increase in range over the flatline was true. i feel it is though you have to lob it a little.

I used my flatline for a while then compaired it to the apex and found it was just as accurate. at unreal (www.unrealpaintball.co.uk) i did an experiment where i stood at the back door or the safe area and fired at the castle window 40m away and counted how many shots to thread it through the 18 inch sqauare window. on a windfree day i got 1 in 6 and on some bursts 3 in a row. on the top 'comand post map' at 30m i can thread 1 in 4 though a 12 inch square shooting hole of sandbags.

Please dont think im questioning your opinion or views or saying i dont believe you (i want to hear peoples opinons please) just interested in the differences we have found :)

thanks guys.

Luke

If you can let me know what you think when you use it on the 27th that would be cool. if you think its rubbish, then id love to know :)

Im fed up of reading mags whe ethe reviews seem a*s licking to the manufacturers who have offered a freebe for review. that doesnt help anyone and i dont want to sell a pile of s**t if im the only person in the world who thinks its good :)

I used it on an XSV Ego buddy that had been set up with low lpr -hence no kick - and it doesnt get better than that ;) (well untill the DM6 came out :D),I got it because of the PGI review and thought id see for myself - I used it down at the site I work at sometimes and it was infuriating i couldnt hit people that were straight ahead of me never mind miles away - but maybe im used to the accuracy you get from ultralites and expected too much .

I'm not sure which mags you're talking about but it can't be PGI- I bought the Apex I reviewed therin as BT were a bit slow off the mark and I was interested in trying one, and have used it extensively for recball since. I think it's a great product that delivers almost as advertised and I don't lick any arses whatsoever:)*
Perhaps check facts before spending your Christmas day flinging silly accusations around? In fact the only thing sadder would be giving a **** on Christmas day......I'm off for pie. Merry Christmas everybody.

*Well not for PGI anyway;)

just got back from YPC after using the apex for the first time with a promaster, mixed results really, first thing to say is you really gotta use a paint with a strong shell or it will break balls on the ramp at the end of the barrel, accurracy is simailer to the flatline possibly a little closer grouping wise but only just, you gotta remember that the groupings will get wider the further your gonna shoot the apex (as they would with any barrel)

distance wise the balls go for miles on super flatline mode, but you can taylor how far they actually fly with the ramp adjuster which is nice, with flatline mode turned off i was a little disappointed in the poor accurracy of the barrel but i suppose if you turn the apex off then theres no point in actually buying it in the first place, on super flatline there is a big dip in the balls exiting the barrel then they rise up and level out as normal i found this good for getting shots under tree branches and bushes which if your into woodsball is a very good tactical advantage opening up countles new angles, and we all know paintball is an angles game.

regarding the left/ right curve hitting ppl round trees, im not sold on it, your gonna have to be really famialer with this barrel before u can attempt those shots i had a go and it was a pain in the ass.

did i mention use thick shelled paint

so all in all im sure next time i use it i will get along better with as ill be using decent paint and know its capabilities etc, it really is an evolution over the flatline blah blah blah, just dont buy it if you want brilliant accuracy cos you wont get it

the thing i think everyone should realise is everyone slags off the flatline and they always will i think this is gonna be true for the apex as well BUT when your out in the field at a walk on you have a more rounded team if you have a couple of flatlines/apexes on your side to help slow the other team down.

would i pay £110-120 NO would i pay £70 and get one off scott essery YESdid i mention buy thick shelled paint

feel free to ask Q's

hia luke

thanks for offering a 100% honest no B/S opinion mate.

ive just come back from unreal paintballs domination VI and fired 2000 xball silver in what must be one of the coldest days you can play!

80% of the players were using chronic though flattis and tourney markers and the amount of chopping and breaks was incredable. the reason....everyone bar a few kept their paint outside in 3oC temp. i , and a few other players were lucky enough to keep the paint inside the shop at 15ish oC and only take warm paint out each game. i had 6 chops (and those were the end of each game with cold paint)

your absolutly right that a brittle shelled paint isnt any good in the apex (or flatties) and thats why i only like using paint im confident with. pro ball platinum, xball bronze and silver, blaze, fuel and marbilizer. once you get a burst in the apex luke, clean the barrel with a fluffy squeegy ASAP.dont try and shoot through it cos it doesnt seem to work.

shooting at about 15 to 20 m away which would you say is more accurate....flatline, apex or your promaster barrel?

thanks for the feedback regarding the super flatline mode luke. thats a feature i havent experimented enough with and was sitting back with a flatty in the last game shooting at players 40m away behind rubber tyres in a wood map. the flatty was going through the branchless bit and i had to lob but it was hitting the branches.after the game, john said "why didnt you use the long and low feature"? bloody good question! im so used to using it with no mode and still being happy with the results.

time to experiment!

thanks again luke and im just pleased you didnt think it was a waste of money mate (and it arrived on time ) :)

"shooting at about 15 to 20 m away which would you say is more accurate....flatline, apex or your promaster barrel?"

scott, im not sure which would be more accurate out of the flatty or the apex at close range, i would hazrd a guess at the apex tho but the std barrel for the promaster would open a can of whop ass on em both at close distance that i am sure of LOL ................................ but like we already said if your buyin the barrel for close range your buying the wrong barrel.

im really looking forward to using mine in the summer wi some quality paint, it snowed a few times today at ypc which aint good for paint or my cold blue fingers and toes!!

the next time ill be using my apex is at the 10 man woodsball comp in leicster next month so hopefully i will be alot more accustomed to it by then.

i used my a5 with flatline half way during the day for a comparison and it is very apparent the apex is more accurate than the flatline, however the flatline is easier on paint, it didnt help wi the weather/paint situation today at all, i think my next purchase is going to be a flametec bag from fat bobs to keep me paint all toasty and non brittle.

weight wise it doesnt weigh much at all, the barrel is only 11inches long and is about the same weight as my 14inch sp progressive barrel.

this thing isnt a waste of money for sure, you just gotta understand what your buying so your not dissappointed with it. and rest assured you can buy with confidence from scott.

peace out
luke
