Actually, it wasn't just ME.
Jessica Sparks was the big gun there. She brought in the people form Nelson paint, several tourney players from MO, Dan Reeves, and a few other places. Teh local field owners came into it on their own, after they were told what was going on. Chris Rhael showwed up, representin college ball. Ben showed up as a rec player, and I did too.
We basically beat the hell ouf of the DNR guy who said (among other things) that paintball guns were fully automatic, that we used paint that was oil based, and that we were a danger to society at large.
Teh bill, as placed, was to ban paintball games, equipment, and paintballs themselves from DNR lands. I understood the reasoning for the law, but the wording bothered me. See, if I was wearing my JT gloves, or a jersey, or even my cleats in the wood,s that's paintball gear. And that's a jailable offense? Forget that!
It's easy. Go in there, say "Hello, I'm a voter in this state, and here's my opinions." Bring everything you'd go play with, minus a gun. Show these people what we play in (jerseys), bring a pod of paint. Show them goggles for paintball. Bring a PVC pipe with barrel plugs / bags on 'em. Hell, EAT a paintball if they're scared of it being harmful to the environment! (Worked for us...)
Be heard. I'd forgotten up to that point how much I lothe public speaking, but you do what you need to do.
