hi guys my computer is being a slag again!

when i try and send/recive emails i get an error messages saying that poproxy.exe has generated errors and must be restarted.
it wont recive my email but every time i get this message i get a duplicate copy of the last email i recived without problems

how in the hell do i sort it out? its driving me scatty! and i cant get my mail! doh!

Poproxy.exe is part of Norton Anti-Virus. I dont know why yours is doing this, but see if theres a LiveUpdate for it or try redoing the configuration for NAV.

Alternatively if you are using Win2K or WinXP, right click on My Computer and select "Manage", then drill down System Tools/Event Viewer and check Application and System and see if there are any clues in the Event Log.

im on win 2k and norton internet security family edition 2k1
(was free from my bank)
my live update subscription is due in a few days...could that be something to do with it?

ive managed to get my emails now by turning the email filter off norton after i reset the comp.....but id rather have the filter running!

One work around for this error is to uninstall Nortons-reboot-then reinstall again. Although to be honest I have found NAV to be a bit lacking in some detections.
BTW disabling email protection will not leave your system open to attack, as the system protection should still stop any viruses infecting the system.
Best AV out at the moment IMHO is AVG 7 by grisoft.

can anyone help me? my girlfriend's comp is completley mashed with virus'. were talking serious infection here. she's used her virus checker but she can't get them off. Can she just format her hard drive or is she totally screwed? any help would be appreciated.
