As Syd says, get yourselves down to a South West King of the Hill event as these are designed for new and very novice teams. Syd and all the other officials are very friendly and will do their best to help you out, even to the degree of renting you equipment if you are short, and there can't be a better intro to tournament play in your area.

Caspar's suggestion of getting to a Nexus seminar is also good, but I haven't yet seen them doing one in the West Country so if you can't manage to travel to one of these try to get a decent high level or Pro player to coach the team at a training session - you will probably have to pay them for their time but it should be well worth the cost.

As the manager yourself take time to talk to other team managers and captains about how to run the team and how to organise finances etc, this can be surprisingly hard and complex!

no need to change your name, it doesnt bother other teams. We have been called Storm for years and now play the PA as Milton Keynes Storm. But hey ho, Lincoln Storm came along and used the Storm name and refused to change. Wonder if they had called themselves Lincoln Nexus they would have had it as easy.

Awwwwww :( ;)

Mind you, Lincoln Nexus does have a nice ring to it, maybe Lincoln Tigers, hmmm Lincoln Dynasty perhaps......
Will have to talk to Rich  :D :D

your name is totaly down to personal choice so if your happy then cool, but if you're not linked to anyother team ie. the youth team for the pro team dyehard then I would maybe prefer a team name that stands on it's on two feet something tough like shockwave, aftershock, trauma, arsenal, rage or indiviual like nexus, dynasty, infamous etc etc

If you've got the chance and it's not quite right then spend the time choosing because it may be around for a while (Tigers since 1983!)

The best advice has already been given. Play, play some more, play again and then go down the pub and talk about playing. The ONLY way you'll get better is playing whether it's practice or tourny experience.

Personaly I much prefer the tigers playing against other teams - there's something that you can't drill for and that's the stress/confusion caused by playing someone else.

So get yourself down to the nearest tourny and kisk ass.

Also I love the comment about increasing your phone tarriff, very true.
