It doesn't matter what you do, some players will complain anyway.....we lost 'cos they had an extra player, one of them knew the fields, they had more money for paint, their masks didn't fog up, his shirt was a nicer colour, so you can't win. But if you think about it, if you're paying £60+ for a rec day, you don't want to be nailed by a punter hunter, so I can see where they are coming from. If your marker is even slightly better, you will stand out. I use a site marker, but wear my proteus and battle pack, but I use rec-days as practice for break outs, sliding etc... It's no good practicing your shooting at targets you know you can hit. I also make a point of pulling as many ill advised, silly or comical moves as possible.that way you stand out 'cos your entertaining and the players don't resent your presence.

for once, i 100 percent agree with you:D ,i played a game(woods) with kids (14+).i used my proteus and the site marker + my revy.they didn't seem happy at first, but when i got shot first(+two of my mates, who know what there doing) they soon cheared up and went for it.i marsheld for a few games after and they were determind to take out my mates(differnt sides) there game went from not to sure to get them,to bloody quick for our liking
but i have had games against punters who complained that i had a beter marker(used a standered cocker),mask, shirt ,i knew the feilds better and so on,and it just is not fair(if there loosing)

£200-250 i would say go for a excellerator or a low end electronic spyder with rev hopper other than that i would say impulse just because i owned my excellerator for three months before buying a impulse.

Yeah i have worked a paintball site for a long time now and we have always allowed people who bring there own euipment to play at our site...obvisiously if there's 4-6 of them we try to have 3 on one side and 3 on the other...

But your right in what you say, alot of the time the other people always think its the gun which makes the difference which it is..but also the player must be good to make a difference every so often we get somebody with there own gun some quite well expirenced and some more money that sense... which hapeens quite often me resorting to fixing somebody's gun because they don't have a manual or don't know the first thing apart from screw-on gas bottle, safety off, pull trigger,.

All i can say sometimes ''punters'' or customers sometimes don't exspect to pay for day of paintball and end up getting shot out by ''that guy with the better gun!''.
Either way i not fussed cause in the long run it helps paintball in general because people relise that paintball is bigger that just playing one day a year it is a widely followed sport and the more they know the better!!!

If you are planning to stick with rec - ball for a long time then id go for a cheap mechanical marker. They are a hell of a lot more reliable than some electros and you can always upgrade later.
Never much of a problem sellin a cheap marker.
With the money you lookin to spend your probably better off looking in the second hand market, lots of good cheap electros (shockers, impys etc.) to be had and you will most probably want to upgrade again in the near future anyway dude i mean mate. dude. mate whatever

Rec-ball rental: new players renting kit from the site, marshals there to "help" players.
Tournament: the sport..... can be
woodland
sup-air (inflatable barricades)
concept: anything from hay bales to truck spoilers.
Players have their own kit, marshals their to enforce the rules.
Walk on: Rec-ball type games, but players bring their own kit.
Scenario: a story game, anything from South park to WW2..played for fun.

Any more?
