Well, I also thought about just an IR beam for a trigger, just like the Rev, but the rules usually require a physical trigger, and the E-Blade is basically what I was thinking of, with a trigger...I still think it'd be funky...no springs to mess with although you'd probably need a sensitivity adjustment to deal with strong sunlight...unless the software can adapt...hmmm...I can see someone practicing with their paintball equivalent of the "air guitar" now...
