Angel velocity problems

LATHAM

FIGHTIN' MACHINE™
Just wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction.

I have a late LCD Angel (2002, but not an ir3) and AIR. I'm having problems with velocity dropping off. First shot over the crono is about 330fps, second about 270, third about 250 etc. After rapid fire the velocity can be as low as 190 to 200fps. If I leave the marker for about 10 to 15 seconds it goes back up to way over 300?

My AIR output is set about 750 - 800 psi and I have stripped, cleaned and lubed my mini reg. I have noticed though that when I fire the gun my AIR output pressure seems to drop, sometimes as low as 600 - 650 psi? I don't know if this is normal though but I'm guessing not. Could this be an internal seal or even something as simple as the AIR batteries?

I'm unable to check my LPR (recommended in wdp's online tech section) as I don't have the tool, but any advice thats offered would be a great help.

Where I am up north we don't seem to have any angel techs and Planet may sell Angels but they won't touch them after that. Even when your a sponsourd team! Any ideas lads?

Thanks in advance.

Howdy...
No quick and easy answer here, but it ain't the batteries on the AIR. The AIR wil even work without batteries (you just can't read the screen, that's all).
I've seen something similar before, and then it had to do with dirt in the regulator of the air tank (wasn't an AIR though). So perhaps it's worth giving it a nice scrubbadubdub...

Peace.

sounds like the AIR but it could be a combination of mini reg, LPR and AIR. The WDP tool kit is only 30 quid and has the LPR tool and gauge in it. Is a 5-10min job to test and reset LPR. Put a gauge on the mini reg and watch it perform when fed by a decent air source, ie max flow. the spring behind the angel valve allows more air through even if there is some drop in pressure from the reg.

AIR looks to be your best bet, planet should warranty this for you, go on to www.wdp-paintball.co.uk and look for the techs listings in the UK.

Hope this helps.

See the above post cos the pressure you are running your AIR at is way too high, unless you have stripped the LPR of its guts and were only using the AIR as the only regulator.

Cheers for all your help lads.

Think i've found the problem though. The front mini reg had a seal with a tiny nick in it. Replaced the seal and it all seams fine now. Also the LPR was a bit low so added a few shims and its all ok now.

With regards to the input pressure both the WDP web site and Jack Woods have told me it should be set around 750 - 800psi. WDPs site even says 850psi! I've always had it set at that and it's been fine till now?

Thanks again

Tha AIR got a high flow rate, so you can use an output pressure of 600 PSI with the AIR. John Rice (WDP Mastermind) recommends 450PSI to go out of the AIR and into the Angel LCD. Some players from Avalanche recommend an output pressure from 700-750 PSI, depends on where your consistency is best.

For the 850 PSI recommendation, this got an easy reason. Since WDP doesn't know what regulator you use and which flow rates it has, they just recommend 850 PSI output pressure for air systems.

Hope this helps?!
