A couple of points to add, Mark, Jimmy sounds fairly clued up realising that the lpr pressure is high, and doing this to try and improve the lcd's output. Could well be the snap ring, but a well worn exhaust valve would be more likely, and as he's had the lpr piston out to do the shims, it's just a small step to change the exhaust valve too.

Oh yes, 82psi is a touch high for the current A4's, more like 65psi.

Given the date of the post I copied for the info perhaps 82 psi is a liitle high but then you are talking about the non standard numbers....that is factory settings of which many people drop to considerably lower...myself included.
I would add that a phone call is the quickest way to try the exhaust valve though the last time I tried a "Talk through" well actually it was a "type through" via AIM it failed as the guy couldn't get the LPR to move more than a couple of mm...a phone call will certainly help but then the method to remove a real stubborn LPR is not for the faint hearted ;)
You may well be correct about the exhaust valve and I agree it is a simple (on paper) swap out, but something is choking the system up and that is why I was looking towards the snap ring.
The air system must be an adjustable as I laid out above to accurately set the LPR regardless of what the aims of lowering or raising it are...an 800psi input to the minireg will not give the correct numbers at the LPR, so the clued up comment you made unless omission is part of the post by Jimmy doesn't hold up ;) ...remember you can only go on what people "say" is the problem and what they have done so far and how they have done it.

Mark, Tom....thanks for all the assistance. I'm gonna have a go at what you have both suggested.

I am using an adjustable air system which I have at 800Psi(The manual says between 800-850psi)

I have an Angel Tool Kit so I'm gonna have a bash at replacing the Exhaust Valve seal....and all that other teckie stuff u have advised.:D

If no luck,Tom, u may just be getting a phone call from me.

Cheers again fellas!;)
