Ok,

Angel LCD. The input pressure is 800Psi as recommended. I did have the LPR at 80Psi which I think is correct...problem...velocity is crap. I have the adjusting screw right out to the max and was still only getting 198fps approx....shimmed the LPR...120Psi...no ball bursts, shooting fine...problem...velocity is crap! Even with the adjusting screw right out I'm only getting approx 210fps...

I know the LPR is too high but I have come up against a 'brick wall' in how to solve this problem...any suggestions other than 'bin it' would be appreciated.

Cheers

check the lpr shims,. sometimes just adding/ or removing will sort it out , spend a bit of tinkering. blast some air through ur mini reg so its clean.

Sounds like you will need a new exhaust valve seal, and also chech that your ram position is correct, and check that your breech block o ring is still there.

Is this all double-dutch to you, or are you ok to check these things.

Exhaust Valve seal...tell me I have one in the new spares kit and I should be able to sort that out. Ram position...somebody told me there should be a slight resistance when closing the breech...is this correct? The breech block O-ring seems fine..still in place.

Query:: on all the mini-regs...is it still counter-clockwise to increase velocity? I have a twister mini-reg(I think:rolleyes: )

Thanks for the advice guys.

A couple of things first...where you get this reccomended figure of 800psi? Yes an Angel will work at that pressure but reccomended? nope. Your input for ideal results will be anything between 550 and 650 psi. Resistance when you close the breech is correct but that could mean you are in one of two positions that give resistance but as you haven't complained about chopping then we will have to assume you are in the right place. You do not have an Exhaust valve in your spares unless you bought a seperate spares kit, personally I think the snap ring needs resetting. To correctly set your LPR you need to follow the procedure below (and if you are using a preset then you can't do it. You NEED an adjustable air source)
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
How to Correctly Set your LPR Pressure
Updated on July 8th 2003 to include info for the SPEED/A4

You will need to following items:
1. Angel LPR gauge
2. LPR piston removal tool (Gold thing with a screw in the end)
3. 4mm Allen Wrench
4. Adjustable AIR system
5. Shims
6. Grease or Oil
7. Safety Glasses (yes...I use them)

a. Make sure there is no paint in your gun.
b. Remove the Air from your gun. Turn your gun on and shoot the remaining air from the gun.
c. Remove the endplug from the right side of the gun (LEFT side for the SPEED/A4). This is the opposite side the ball detent is on.
d. install the LPR gauge.
e. turn minireg velocity adjusting screw until it is flush with the body. If you are using a gas-thru you can skip this step. We are trying to make sure the air from your tank is going directly into the gun without being affected by your in-line regulator.
f. using your adjustable tank send 500 PSI directly into the minireg (350 for the SPEED/A4) and see where your pressure is at. We are trying to get to 85-90 psi on an LCD, 100 psi on an IR3 and 82 on a SPEED/A4.

If the pressure is to high or to low you will need to adjust it using the shims. These are installed by removing the LPR piston (after de-gassing the gun) and adding or removing shims behind the washer springs. Adding springs increases the LPR pressure.

If you have to add an unusual amount of shims (over 10) to get your pressure up then it is a good idea to replace your LPR. It is also a good idea to clean and regrease the piston orings since everything is already taken apart.

TIP: When checking your LPR pressure make sure that the gauge returns FAST and stops. If it creeps you might need to replace the orings in the LPR or replace the entire LPR assembly

I hope that helps and if indeed it is the snap ring then the manual will tell you how to set this...

A couple of points to add, Mark, Jimmy sounds fairly clued up realising that the lpr pressure is high, and doing this to try and improve the lcd's output. Could well be the snap ring, but a well worn exhaust valve would be more likely, and as he's had the lpr piston out to do the shims, it's just a small step to change the exhaust valve too.

Oh yes, 82psi is a touch high for the current A4's, more like 65psi.

Jimmy, it may be easier to talk you through changing the exhaust valve, as the lpr mst be removed carefully so that the internal o ring is not damaged.
If you want to ring me, on 07773 364246, i can talk you through, or pm me your phone number and i'll ring you.
