OK... trying to remain diplomatic here...at a "Recent Paintball Event" i enquired about the ??NEW ANGEL PANTS at a tradestand (NOT the Angel tradestand, so no misunderstandings).
I commented to the salesperson that the 'honeycomb' material on the front of the legs is very rubbery and so they might be hot and uncomfortable to wear in the summer.
The salespersons reply left me more than a bit gobsmacked... they said 'it means they are easy to wipe a hit off' and went on to say 'that one quick brush on your sleeve would leave it looking like an old hit'!! OMG!!
Anyway, I seem to recall reading in one series rules (poss millennium or maybe a domestic) that 'outer layers must not be made of rubber or have a slick surface' or words very close to that effect.

Comments anyone

well funny you should say that... i was seriously considering buying a pair as they seem really well made etc, but after the salespersons comment it made me change my mind...

Re pink stains... well thats ONE solution... we could all go out in pvc!

Hold the phone!

I just bought a pair of the Angel trousers at the Miami tournament and I don't think they're designed for cheating.

Example: I made a run for the snake on break in one game and got hit on my thigh just as I was diving. Of course I slid on the hit and then turned over to check if it might have bounced. The hit was right there in broad daylight.

So I don't think it rejects or retains hits any differently than any other PB trousers out there and whoever said so was hoping to appeal to a baser motive.

They are sturdy, durable and very comfortable trousers, made to last. Those are the only merits to consider, besides looking good.

Wait, I'm supposed to worry about something besides looking good??? Well that explains a lot... :D :D :D

I looked at the new Angel pants in Miami. They looked pretty nice and seemed to be well built. The only problem I saw was they they seemed to be designed for less "aerodynamically challenged" individuals than myself. :p

PS - the rule you're referring to is 5.04 in the Millenium rules and 6.14 in the NPPL rules.

I think you are going slightly over board by not buying them just because of one comment made.

I personally think they look great and looking at the material used in them, wdp made them to last.

Job well done in my opinion.

well tbh i'm undecided atm. Im a big fan of Dye pants and one part of me says 'hold out for the 2K4 pant' (they look good online tho i havent seen any in UK yet). My thoughts on the Angel pants were more along the lines of.. hey if this is the sales pitch then will tourney organisers get wind of it and they'll end up getting banned as being 'too slick' or too easy to wipe? The honeycomb material on the Angel pants certainly looks as if it's plastic coated, certainly non-absorbent. The washing instructions says to wash in cold water and not tumble dry, which would be consistent with a plastic coated type of material... Just wondered where it fitted in with tourney rules as so much emphasis has been put on acceptable clothing lately...(Remember the complaints over the padded shoulders in this seasons Dye tops...Rules ended up being re-written to accomodate them in that you can't wear another layer under the padded parts) Just didnt want to end up with a pair of pants i cant wear at tourneys...

I'd certainly agree that the workmanship on them is excellent and theylook damn durable!
