Ok, milling the tube off is not a good idea, you won't save much weight as it's an empty tube, and it would look awful. Getting rid of the battery is a good idea, and instead of a dm board i would get it spitfired, you get eyes, all the modes and a 9v battery. With the body there are places you can remove weight but the work involved really outweighs the saving.
