You should be OK with a 1.5 - I don't know the exact shot count, but that's the bottle size Smart Parts market themselves for use with Shockers & I'd guess they'd know! ;)

As far as the low pressure mod to the AIR, it's a 1 minute job & isn't difficult at all. There's no parts to swap/add, it's simply a matter of removing a couple of the spring pack discs.

The mod apparently works best on the newer style AIRs - the ones with the raised dome on the front face of the reg - but can still be done on the older models.

If you need any more help then let me know.

Sinner of course Smart Parts will sell you a 1.5 tank cos as a front player its just about fine, plus you never sell something and never expect to see them again, do that and you are going out of biz, all of my team who had or still do run shockers all have 1.9 bottles (I don't but then I used co2 so it wasn't an issue for me) one of the team worked for Smart Parts btw ;)

The upgrade for the Angel AIR is just that an upgrade the new versions already have it installed (guess you didn't follow the link) There are parts to swap out but it is a quick job

mark - you say to run a 1.9ltr air tank,but that would mean a 3000psi fill.A 1.5ltr at 4500psi would have more air,i used to run a 1.9ltr for a shocker & got 1000 shots so a 4500 at 1.5 ltr should do the same or more,depending on setup.Just a thought.:D :D :D

And previously I said I used a .68 tank on co2 and got 7 pots from it 7 x 140 =980 plus the hopper but that is using co2, shockers like co2 better than air so you need a larger tank if using air UNLESS you are a front player. I wasn't intending all the "Shocker rule!" replies of course the thing will work with a smaller tank but to play any serious length of game you need the larger tanks....this and the weight of Shockers is why a great many have ceased to be used (mine is for sale but then I have too many markers, can't fire them all !)
I agree your maths might come close to the figures you are saying but in practical use a larger tank is required it is called insurrance. A 1.9 doesn't only mean a 3000psi fill they are made at 4500 too plus when the tank is down on pressure the "kill" shots deminish (this isn't strict science but in "practical" use, it works)

Never seen a 1.9ltr 4500 tank for sale in this country, seen them on a us site as DOT bottles, but 1000 + paint should be more than enough for any game in this country,as most uk teams could not support the cost,i have played back & have never used more than 1000 shots & dont even carry that amount any more.I agree that it is sensible to carry extra but it can be total over kill & where do you stop ?.:p :p :p :p :p :p

I know about the upgrade kit - check my sig, I'm an AIR tech. :)

The newer 'dome' AIR doesn't operate any differently from the older models - they simply perform better when configured for a lower output pressure range.
The upgrade kit converts an old 'flat face' AIR into a new 'dome' model. It doesn't provide any performance benefit whatsoever unless reconfigured for low pressure usage.
Both the 'dome' and the 'flat face' AIRs can reconfigured for the lower range by removing 2 spring pak discs and rearranging the remaining 10.

Fair enough, hands up I didn't read your sig but your first post said it worked better on the newer AIR regs (its already installed on the newer AIR regs, the raised dome is part of the upgrade), I was just saying well you saw what I was saying and yes it is for increased stabilty at lower pressures, and as explained to me by a certain Mr Rice...it now means that you can use the AIR on Shockers!

you will have no problem running your shocker with a AIR, if you keep the vert mounted max flow and run the AIR into it. That will mean you dont need the low presure set up.

Run the AIR with a output pressure of around 700 to 800psi and use the vert max flow to bring that down to the required pressure of the shocker.

If its the standard AIR bottle then it long rather than dumpy, approx 1200shots from 1.5/4500psi

cheers
