Just thought I'd post this up in case anyone else has been having the same trouble as me.

I've been after a new (or good condition used) screen for my angel air, I've managed to get hold of one now (thanks to Andy Dane) but in the mneatime I looked into 'fabricating' a suitable replacement.

After mapping out a rough 'template' in wood I got hold of some clear perspex sheeting from B & Q and after taking some measurements managed to cut a right sized piece.

After clamping onto the template and using the flame head on my gas soldering iron to bend the plastic I've got a good shaped piece that with some additonal filing and drilling I have a pretty good fitting prototype that is fully functional. Once my new ascreen arrives I'll feel safer about using my current and quite fragile screen for the final design.

I should be able to make quite a few with the sheeting I have now so I should be able to run off a few more if others are in need.

Bit rough and ready at the moment but it works....:)

Bournemouth.
Lol, for a split second there I thought you were on about the actual LCD ;)

Would be interesting to see how it works out though, almost every Angel AIR i've seen seems to have a cracked screen cover.

:)

Oh no mate I can just about solder but I'm not building the regs. My 'replacement' isn't perfect but it should do the job and is better than nothing if the screen is cracked. :)

If I make a good enough job of them I might try a sell a few on here if there is any demand

I was in lips the other day, talking of angels, contemplating what electro marker to get. This dude walks in with an angel and the screen started playing silly b*gg*rs on him and it turned the text upside down, so they flashed it there for him and it turned his text back to front!!! Upside down and back to front text not bad for £700ish, so i bought an ION!!!

lmao

£700 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I bought and ir3 with angel air and a tank off a mate for £80. I've another angel air reg on the way for a tenner!!!
my air reg came with an ir3 as well, nice piece of kit to get started on but I quickly upgraded, went from the ir3 to an Angel A4, to a G7 but i'm shooting a Proto Matrix atm.

The air's are nice, but it's not until you change the reg for a preset that you realise just how heavy they are!

Was just taking up space in my kitbag, so you're welcome to it ;)
