cheating

we had a call of cheat against one of our players from the side of the A1 field. It was actually paint off the side of the back center bunker which the ref saw and told him to wipe it, but like it was stated in an earlier post it is difficult to know what has happened if you are at the side of the field so i say if you arent playing dont accuse anybody especially if you forty feet away on the wrong side of the bunker.

Now remember boys and girls, only cheaters: Put their hands over their goggles when they run, wear baggy clothes, scratch any itches on camera, wear multiple pads from their forearms to their elbows, wear sliding shorts while playing in the back, choose a jersey based on shoulder padding, and/or have the nerve to be offended when accused of it.

Just because you cheat, don't assume that everyone else does too. I realize that in your minds, the theory is that because you do it, everyone else will as well. This is simply not the case.
Let me get this straight. You write this whole profile senario about what all cheaters wear, itch, and put their hands when they run, but then you try to convince them that not everyone cheats, so they no longer have to?

No, just saying "Don't assume that since you cheat everyone else does."

Sheesh, don't you read?

And don't try to, in so many words, piss on my leg and say it's raining. If you're gonna cheat, cheat well. If you're gonna push the rules, admit it. If you're gonna ba a prick about playing, say so. If you're gonna buy gear to get bouncers, if you're gonna use tecniques to wipe hits, if you're gonna break every rule in the book to win, just admit that you do it and get it the freak over with.

Instead of hiding behind the blanket statement "We play a stand up game", admit that you don't. It's not that hard to admit the truth. It just takes honesty.

Oh, wait, I guess that's the fault, isn't it?

Its a bit hard not to buy baggy clothing for Paintball when 90% of the clothes are baggy anyway. Unless a Jersey is too small for you, it will be baggy on you.

And I hold my hand/forearm over my mask when running off the break but not so I can wipe easier. It is more than likely that the ball would break easier on your mask than on your hand/forearm.
I myself wear Gloves and Dye Pads that cover my forearm and my elbow. So yes, if i am hit there, theres a good chance it will be a bounce but Im in no way breaking the rules, so why not?

And the bit about the sliding shorts with the padding on the hips. They are made to take the impact if your are diving, crawling, jumped, sliding so that you dont have to.

The problem with your rant, Tyg, and I mean rant in a good way is your mixing some apples in with your oranges. (As weedave points out).
It's not the players fault they can now purchase "elbow" pads that go from mid-bicep to wrist or any of the rest. Such things are now within the rules.
Same with the chest slide or the raised hand. Perfectly valid reasons for doing both but both can be used for less honest pursuits as well. Doesn't mean every time someone chest slides they're trying to make a hit disappear.

There's a diffrence between purchasing elbow/forearm guards and two sets of elbow pads to wear on your elbows and forearms. (Ref. pix of Huntington Beach...)

A lot of the "break" techniques I've seen are meant to wipe. A forarm hit is easier to wipe than a mask hit, and I've been told POINT BLANK, by a tourney baller that they run with the hand up so they can wipe a hit. At least he was honest about that.

And perhaps there are valid reasons to do anything from run your fingrs along your visor to use teh flag as a towel, but if you're doing it to cheat, admit it.

That's my take, anyway.

Tyger - I agree with most of what you said but you do get a little carried away.

Take the slide shorts. I'm a back man and I wear them for two reasons. First, I can wear a cup comfortably all day without getting a rash. Second, I'm not very graceful and on those rare occasions when I slide, I need all the skid protection I can get (OK, so I skid more than slide).

The problem with a lot of cheaters is they don't think it's cheating to wear three jerseys or two sets of elbow pads. They're too busy rationalizing it as "I play so hard I need two sets of elbow pads" or "I like my jersey baggy" or, my personal favorite, "it's just spray" :D :D :D

Do cheaters suck? Yes. Do I let them ruin the game for me? Nope. I just don't have any respect for them or their accomplishments.

Uh, genius! You apparently don't.

You just sweepingly accused all players being cheaters if they: wear baggy clothes, wear more than one pad on their elbows and/or forearms (according to you this also means that they are guaranteed to be shooting hot too), put their hands over their goggles when they run, chest slide, wear a jersey with some thin foam padding in the shoulder, and deny it when accused of it. And you're advice to all of these people is to not assume that because they cheat, everyone cheats.

Do you not see your failed logic here?
