An answer to that burning X-Ball question

Okay, so maybe not so burning but official word is trial exhibition of X-Ball at Disney on Wednesday in the middle of WC will feature an assortment of college teams (as everybody else will be busy playing or reffing out in that Kissimmee cow pasture.)
One can only hope it's closed to the public as it might otherwise put people off X-Ball altogether. :D

While I'm sure there are some good players on some of the college teams, my only experience with them is the 45 second max we put on penn state at the IAO (7man not 3).

I hope for x-ball that the quality of play is better.

I'd like to congratulate Troy on his "45 second max".

Our squad played 7-Man Amateur, however, most of our players had never played together in a tournament before and some of them had never played a tourney period.

We went for team building and good competition. Novice is always sandbagged anyway. We're going to X-Ball to win. If you don't think the competition will be good, I'd urge you not to watch.

We're in it for the love of the game...yep the glory is nice, but that comes second. We're not sponsored...

You wonder why college football is so much more interesting...those kids are making a name for themselves playing a game they love...they're not getting paid or any type of income for playing...

And now a word from the moderators:

Please stop with the cyber-bitch-fighting. We have had enough name calling in the past, resulting in a few bans and a pretty high profile player/writer deciding to leave these boards.
It's fine to disagree, but please, do so with arguments, not namecalling.

Hey College participants

Are the X-Ball folks fronting any of your expenses or are you all paying your own way?
How long ago did X-Ball peeps start contacting college teams to play this exhibition? (It was awhile ago, wasn't it?)

And for anyone else looking into this who has read elsewhere that whole WC schedule needed to be rearranged to accomodate Sunday X-Ball guess what, college lads will be playing X-Ball over at Disney Thursday thru Saturday.

I'm not even playing with my club at X-Ball, but I have all the faith in the world that they're gonna kick butt. Be prepared for PSU to "Shock the World!" And stop with the name calling man, this represents a great opportunity for college teams around the country, so don't smear it with unsportsmanlike conduct. Have some respect for the sport and its players.

WE ARE PENN STATE!

Alright, we can stop this whole thing right now. For your information the college players who are competing at X-ball are paying their own bill to play. Expences and paint are covered, getting down there adn everything else is ours to do. That is at least $500 a player.

I have played on both sides of the spectrum, and for everyones information the reason the schedule had to be changed for WC was because the pro's threatened not to attend if they didn't get a chance to play X-ball. Originally they were not supposed to play at ALL. The whole reason for the college teams was that ESPN has shown interest in filming it and the Powers that be did not want to risk scaring ESPN away with unsportsmanlike behavior expected from the pro's.

And as for how long ago this all came together....try 8 days ago the planning for this started. These college teams have busted their butts to get to the level you all enjoy and think you are so important for having. If you are the high and mighty players, then what are you so worried about? Scared a college team might do better then you? Or might get more attention then you?
