If you get guys that are Marshalling and having to travel any distance they might not be so Keen. Plus the organiser would have to Provide accomodation for them if they were expected to arrive the day before.
For major events that are going to attract lots of teams I think it might work. However this idea certainly wouldn't work for some of the bigger tournies.
Try coming down to Temple as well .... I was there last weekend and it was a good day ... everyone was pretty Friendly and the fields were good.
Thunder managed to keep smiling in the Upper division and I thought they played really well considering the teams they were up against. Played lads ...
