Nah no need to worry about the trajectory, a good paint/barrel match, using quality paint that'll break and not bounce off guys and you'll be set. The Ego's come with quite a lovely barrel, you can get extra barrel backs as well to better size your paint to the barrel.

Ah okay, that explains why there are so many barrel kits out there, its to do with sizing the paint your using to the barrel? Crucial info!

Yep, paintballs are .68 caliber. However, due to differences in manufacturing I've seen paint from .678 to .690. Having a barrel that's slightly larger than your paint allows for a bit better accuracy and more consistent shot. With super small paint I just got at the field, my fps over the chrono was all over the board. 258, 275, 264, 270. With a good paint to barrel match? 297, 297, 297.

Okay awesome, thanks a lot for the advice/help. 3 shots at same FPS is pretty damn impressive!

So, aside from matching barrels to paint (ie having a set of barrels). I assume there are no other 'essential' upgrades I'd want to consider for an Ego?

Also, with regards to arm protection etc to increase bounces, am I correct in assuming this is looked down on? This is a purely gameplay advantage question as getting shot isnt my primary concern (did used to martial speedball etc, so no stranger to the game play or getting hit).

Quite a few players use elbow pads which can extend down the forearm. There are specific call outs about over padding I believe in the rulebooks, depends on what the field/event follows.

I didn't put my knee pads on, because my Planet Eclipse pants have decent padding. I slid into a bunker...and found a huge rock. Dealing with a bruise isn't a big deal, but it served as a reminder to put the knee pads back on :)

Your questions are mostly covered

Regarding cameras I prefer the contour goggle mounted. It can also happily take hits without needing a waterproof case
Gopro don't support paintball and if the camera is damaged then they won't support that under warranty. It should be used in the case
Contour certainly supported paintball before they closed down, and we had contour Scotland sponsorship
Contour are back in business again

See the link I have on page 1 of the 'camera mounting positions' thread. That shows various setups people have used

Apologies, have found the camera thread and asked some more specific questions in there.

Does anyone playing speedball ever use an off axis feed neck so they can sight down the barrel?

It was old school to have the feednecks at a 45 degree angle, then to use a 45 degree adaptor so that the hopper was offset to the side

Watch speedball players and you will notice a way that the cylinder is put in their shoulder and the gun is rotated at an angle. When straight ahead the gun is at 45 degrees

However, let me teach you a trick:

Hold out the palm of your hand in front of your face
Look at it and it obstructs your vision, you will see past it with each eye but it will block what's directly ahead
Bring your hand closer - focus on your hand and it will continue to block your vision
Repeat but as you bring your hand closer keep focusing ahead jus past your hand, as it gets closer your fingers will turn semi transparent
You now have x ray vision

Take a paintball gun with hopper, hold the gun centrally in front of your face, slightly forwards as if you are about to shoot
Hold it so the feedneck is level with your eyes
Focus ahead and the feedneck will turn transparent
Hold it so the barrel is level who your eyes and you will get the sense of looking through the barrel

yeah in speed ball the gun will be mainly up and shooting in the woods yeah normally at the floor

the issue with mounting a camera to your head its good in airsoft I use one also, but with paintball your laoder gets in the way, so your normally filming the back of your loader !

the barrel back is the main piece that makes all the difference in accuracy, so sizing your bore to your barrel does make a difference
