I'd have thought 3mm steel would stop most of the impact of a real shotgun, never mind a BB..... but if it can fire a plastic 6mm bb then it's easy enough to get it to fire a metal one.... they aren/t supposed to have the power, but I smashed a whiskey tumbler with one a while back......and that was a little plastic mph shooting plastic bb's. Got rid of it as it wasn't funny any more.
Biggest problem for the air-softers is realism, they love it and most of them say that's what they play for......... so they'll get caught up in anything that involves replicas. We on the other hand don't really go for the authentic military look. (Unless Amsterdam red light district had an army....... they'd probably use similar looking kit :)

Talking of which, has anyone here seen the film "Lost In Translation"?

There's a scene in it where they get into a row with a bar owner, who jumps over the counter with a bb gun and starts spraying them! They end up getting chased out onto the street and the mad bb-gun dude is still firing, out in the street. I don't know if this is meant to reflect Japan's real attitude to replica firearms being owned, carried and fired out in public, but if that was anything near as powerful then I'm striking Tokyo off the list of places I want to visit! :(
