I must say in 15 years I've never had probs. with seals, swapping between co2 and air ...just lucky I guess:)

How can you adjust your gun to compensate for this in order for the fps to stay consistant?

Well I would excpect that greater gas throughput would be required for a longer barrel. This is compensated for in just the same way that velocity is adjusted on any gun; Usually just tightening/loosening a spring.

I would reckon that switching gasses wouldn't any problem at all. Remember, the vast majority of the coldness associated with CO2 occurs at the bottle (due to the latent heat of vaporuisation, should anyone care). Air isn't warm, there is no increase in temperature, just less cooling (the expansion of the air does in fact cool the air a bit, but not much). Any heat associated with a HPA system will most likely be due a rise in temperature whent the gas was compressed, and so usually only shows up when filling from a compressor.

If you like I'll go into the physics of it, its all to do with thermodyamics :D

I've actually just had this very experience. I knew I was low on air, but hey, it was the last game of the day and I had a 12oz bottle with a bit of C02 still in it...so I put it in place of a pod and headed for the game. Sure enough, the air didn't last. Off comes the air, on goes the C02.... I'm back in the game. No problems. Running a Palmer has it's advantages (good for C02!). Chrono'd afterwards.. still in the 280's, just like the air.
