had a good look around and not found much

but

somehow that doesnt suprise me

you might have more luck with a iphone and a macbook

but even if they did the contract would be insane to get a free blackberry(£200??) and macbook (£750+)

The best price you are going to get a Macbook, MBP, or MBA for is either to use the Apple educational discount (available on-line or instore) or you could buy the it along with the 8GB iPod Touch on the back to school promotion and eBay the iPod Touch (although I think this is finishing soon).

Don't forget to hi-five the specialist after you've conducted your transaction :)

Maybe its just me but it seems really wrong that they need you to have a specific brand of computer to do an educational course.

Especially such an overpriced gimmicky brand.

Back when I was doing computer science at uni, if you had windows rather than Linux you were a bit flash.
If you had a mac you just got laughed at. Nobody had a mac.
But they made sure you could do the work on any machine.

Whatever.

Another good way of getting a cheap Mac is looking on the Apple website and buying a refurbished Mac:

http://store.apple.com/uk/browse/home/specialdeals/mac?mco=NzcwNjgwNQ

I recently bought a MacBook Pro for £1400 that would originally have cracked £2000. There are MacBooks on there for £750 down from £1000. You get a full warranty and the same support as if you bought a new Mac.

Will your wife be using a different computer, if not I would heartily recommend going downthe iPhone route rather than Blackberry. She will be able to use a Blackberry but it is that bit more awkward. If she has to have a Blackberry then she will need a piece of software called Missing Sync for it to sync with a Mac. (google it).

You won't get a free Mac from anywhere and cheap ones are very hard to come by as Apple are very hardcore on their pricing. Don't be tempted to buy one from some website to save £50 as the support will be non existent.

Educational or refurbished is the way forward. Good luck, she will be very happy with her Mac and will never look at a PC the same way again. they are brilliant machines.

option one,

http://www.toysrus.co.uk/Toys-R-Us/Learning/Creative-Play/Classic-EtchaSketch(0020205)

option two,

http://www.buymobilephones.net/mobile-phones/BlackBerry/BlackBerry-Curve-8520-Free-Apple-MacBook/62,17675

option one is the cheapist, and if i was designing cool tattoos it would be good. but option 2 is better for ilustration. if any body finds more please post.

thanks for your help,

dave
£480 for a phone then £44 a month :S (thats £1008 for a year)

thats a 24month contract aswell

would it not be easier and cheaper to get finanace on a new macbook??
