Yeah but its inside companies. I think he's trying to get the point across that outside companies generating money would be better.
But where would the incentive be for these outside companies to advertise? Tournament paintball is very much a minority sport so any advertising is to a small audience, and the majority of a paintball player's disposable income is spent on that so they can't afford to buy whatever is advertised.

I didn't say it would happen, more that was the idea that axess was trying to put across.

Centanu thats what i was trying to say yeah.

it will have a double benefit, not just the added revenue but these companies will be seen as tied to paintball, which should hopefully mean that paintball is seen by more people. think about the current "rip curl" clio, i know that surfings on a completely different level but it still brings some publicity to the sport. if paintball started offering advertising space to companies like this in a few years we may see the paintball land rover :p.

Having just read liz's post, yes its a niche but paintball players still drink beer, wear clothes and drive cars, all areas where advertising revenue could be made.

Outside industry sponsors can still advertise in the sport, we're all human (well most of us) and still have other things in life. If they did their research they'd probably find a lot if us have common interests outside the sport. Its all about getting the right companies in. Companies like Cola, McDonalds etc can advertise just about anywhere!

cigarettes companies arnt allowed to advertise thought.

Everyone likes free stuff, the problem with tourney paintball is that because it is such a small sport in the UK with so few people playing that people think they deserve sponsership when all they have really achieved is affording to play.

lol.

still outside sponsorship would raise the profile of paintball, these sponsorships don't have to go to teams it could just be to lower event costs, look at what red bull has done for "air racing", i cant believe there are more air racers than paintballers. getting a big company such a red bull on board gives a sport more negotiating power with TV companies ect.

yup but think how that ties in - red bull gives you wings;)

how would it tie in with paintball, you have to think how they can make an advert out of it

There are other companies other than Redbull.... Relentless springs to mind as a suitable one though its still a "young" company in a way....

I bet one of the reasons outside sponsors are difficult to get hold of is they dont "get" tournament paintball. Average Joe on the street has no idea what so ever about it... why should a business man on £100,000 a year and much better things to do with his life going to know?

An idea that i've been thinking about...
how about tornaments at theme parks. For example, Alton towers. There is plenty of open ground to set up, easy to get to and with the numbers that go through alton towers, the sponsors and advertisment alone could pay for the event. It would be a selling point for alton towers, Plus it would increase paintball awareness. This could even encourage TV advertising. For example, look at the red bull air race and that thing where they ride stuff of the edge of a pier into water. Publicity stunts, where people come from all over to wach. Just needs some organisation and it could be very sucessful.
Anyone see any problems with this idea?
