im not saying you have said this or anything but im going to Defend if people say Disruption only won cus of the yank we had
Well - as said, I fully appreciate the immidate problem Chris had, and accept he choose to solve it that way. Also, being a semi-pro player, I think it is less of a problem, when Ryan is playing in the Semi Pro League in the MS.... I would just have liked to see him be a real integrated part of the team - instead of a hired gun.

This is a hard issue to debate - people so easily assume that it is about jealousy - when really, what I am concerned with, is the long term development of European paintball.

I do not believe our teams will ever reach the pinnacle of this sport, if we keep taking the easy road and just hiring top US players to get our results. And I really really really want european teams to reach the highest level, because only then will we begin to be able to run real professional teams (in paintball terms) over here also.

This is the core of the problem, who has enought players, Norway for sure doesn't, even France doesn't according to Ton Tons even if the field 3 teams in the Millenium.

This is "solved" in other sport by carrying more players than you can play and developing your own players.
I completely agree Christian.

Germany and France are the two biggest paintball markets in Europe - both vastly bigger than Norway, Sweden and Denmark.... and yet, curiously enough, it is predominantly teams from those two markets that seem to struggle finding players locally - and instead import them from the US.

Maybe it is not so much a question of whether the talent is there locally - and more a question of bothering with finding it and training it.... when it is so much easier to just hire known US Pro players?

I see MANY very talented french and german players in divisions 1 and 2 at MS events - and wonder why those kids are not getting a shot in their local top teams - that choose to instead import US pro players?

and Bngi -d you think that Ryan Cud of got his kills if we would get easily shot out of our bunkers etc- it was team and we ALL played good , and maybe alot of people wud of seen that if the finals of SPL was played on the CPL field

As i said, you all played very well..

However , Ryan was a kick in the upwards direction for you. Considering This doesnt mean that you won solely because of him, and no one can ever say if you would have won or not without him. I dont have a problem with ringers what so ever so im not out to "get" you guys, or any other team. I think its a great oppurtunity to raise the bar in the spl and Cpl division.

Im looking forward to seeing you guys play in London, sadly i cant go to shoot you guys myself ;)

Cgrats to the win, and good luck in London.

Maybe roster lock is at fault

Because of the roster lock we all had to submit our 12 players for the SPL in Germany. Due to the recent upheavel in the team, we are in a rebuilding period, looking at young fresh talent, that, unfortunately could not commit to all the events this year, due to educational or financial reasons.
As already posted no player would play 1 event if it meant they couldn't play for their team for the rest of the season, so if a "hired" gun asks to play for us what should I do?
We are in talks with a couple of teams with respect of setting up a "sister" team but who want's to give up the identity they've developed for the chance of maybe playing in the SPL?

Answers on a postcard to Mr S P Wilson..........................;)

roster lock

Yes the roster lock thing have turned in to a joke. It was meant to be some kind of restriction from teams boosting up there teams at the end of the season. If you all remember everybody was upset over Consellium dei having 2 us pro players in Amsterdam or whatever.
Now it have turned in to a big joke. And thats what happend when people just set up rules that havent been thought thru.

We are discussing this issue in IPPU so it would be great if teams start to think about how they would like the rules to look like for 2008.
I have suggested in IPPU that any player playing for a team in CPL or SPL next year have to wear the team jersey and shoot the team gun etc.
Furthermore I would like to throw back the rule that was in use 2004 in EXL that no player playing for a NXL team can play in a CPL team as those teams can meet in the intercontinental cup. I hated that rule then, but I find it ironic that the same teams and owners that used that rule to stop Alex Lunqvist to play for Joy now use NXL players without any issues.

Then we can make it easier on the roster lock and allow players to move around in Europe. Beacuse right now we are stopping players from playing. A example is a European player that played for a CPL team ( and he only pitted )and got cut after Toulouse. He is now not allowed to play at any level in the Millennium series for the entire year!!

Another idea is to allow like NPPL 2 roster changes from the prior event. Or maybe just 1 beacuse its 5 man? But the current rule is just made up by people that dont have a clue..

Well - I've been saying for a while, that teams with large rosters should be allowed more flexibility.

It sucks for a young player to train hard and reach a level good enough for the first squad mid season - and then have to wait until April next year until he is allowed to play there.

At present, you are allowed to move a player up from the second team - but you are not allowed to move anyone down.... and that creates the problem that when you move up someone, another player is just benched, without being able to get game time on the second team.

Effectively this means, that it is hardly ever done, simply because moving someone up, looses you the possibility of fielding a second team anymore.

NOT aimed at you guys in particular since I understand your situation regarding Germany - need to point that out or else I would be eaten alive within seconds....

Hahahaha - what an intelligent and insightfull post.

We know - the notion that sports should be fair is really out there...... and we should quit wanting it or talking about it.

Why don't you throw in a "if you want to be the best you have to beat the best" in there - for good meassure - so that we can all have another good laugh? :)
