A Little Smack Never Hurt Anybody

One aspect of sport is contention and differing opinions. In America we argue passionately about all sports in great and frequently vicious detail all the time. We even argue about what is and isn't a sport (golf, no, water polo, probably). So why doesn't the same apply to Paintball? Why is it everyone seems to want this giant brotherhood of ballers meeting in some gigantic group hug? It's almost a sort of Paintball PC--you can't speak your mind lest somebody is offended or the sport is somehow diminished, blah, blah, blah.

All this hugs and kisses business is for pussies - I think good old fashioned down and dirty rivalry gets far more people interested than open toe sandles, back rubs and ego massaging...

What really is there to get into all-out brawls over in paintball? Unless it's the media running stupid uninformation, your opinion on which league is better, or the latest patent lawsuit, what do we have to argue over? Besides the fact that we have nothing to argue over.

Baca me le muckeroonie...you haven't been over to pbnation for a while... have you... :)

To be honest, at the moment, apart from domestic shiznick (which has got really dull since around the time the MM "evolved" - where have the good times and banter gone from these forums??), the whole major league opinions thing is probably on hold right now, until someone can actually decide if Xball is gonna stay with us, and what effect it is going to have on 7-man...

I'm now just a spectator (one, two, three... aaaaawwwww)... so I probably have a different opinion to most of you - but until the sport has unity (ie, everyone goes for an X-ball format (or variation thereof...) ... you know it makes sense...), then we aint gonna have enough scope for a decent argument, other than "Drop forwards suck. Discuss.", etc...

At the moment we can't even compare the best in the world against the other best in the world, and we won't until we're all playing the same game.

How many different formats of soccer are there in existence??

So hurry up and launch the new "Y-Ball" format, NPPL!!!

Youse seem to be missing the point. If I'm talking football or baseball I'm not debating the merits of some brand of ball or helmet. I'm expressing an opinion about a team, it's players, a game, etc. For example, Barry Bonds gets endlessly hammered in sports media, sports radio and bars across the country despite the fact he's a brilliant player. Does he spend all his time demanding apologies or insisting baseball fans have no business dissing him?
Happens in PB all the time. And if PB ends up a real sport best get used to it. All I'm saying.

Oh, yeah, you know what you can do with yer hugs, don't ya?
