Okay,
Paintball could be at a turning point, now that X-ball is here, the NPPL and PSP have parted ways, and each will continue to host events, and a whole bunch of other things that are happening right now.
What we'd like to know is what everybody's preference would be. What series would you prefer to play?

PS, thank you to Steve 'Wadidiz' for coming up with this.

Go boil your bottoms, the both of you. :D

Seriously though, I think it's interesting to see that so far most people seem to prefer Chuck's adventure, instead what should be high profile X-ball. Then again, if Chuck makes good on his word, then we should see some rather impressive venues in the US soon, which is always a very welcoming thing for those players who have to dig in their own pockets in order to play.

He's baacckk....

Have to agree with the 7man format .... it's really the way to go (especially with X-ball becoming the true "pro" league). Let's look at formats for a second:

  • Chuck's NPPL - 7 player
  • Millennium Series - 7 player
  • APPL (Aussies) - 7 player
  • NZPPA (Kiwi's) - 7 player
  • IAO - 7 player
  • Any Others I've forgotten?

Can we say international standard? Now all we need to do is fix the rule book so that all the contradictions are taken out and so that you don't need a law degree to read it and we're there ....

Hmmm, I voted Super 7(which hopefully Ill get to play next year:D )

Only problem is, I betcha most people(even if they would rather play Super 7) will play PSP this first year. Nobody wants to spend hundreds and hundreds of dollars to go to a tournament that they arent sure what its gonna be. Hopefully enough of the top Ams will play it and "convince" otehrs to follow.
IF the NPPL can make it through a year or two I bet they will have gained the majority of players and teams.

Except of course the alternative is a PSP event where they have a very good idea what they'll get and it hasn't always been so hot, has it?
[Official BL prediction ;) -- Look for NPPL event entry prices to undercut PSP by a fair margin.]
I do think, however, that the poll is potentially skewed in that chances are more Euros have responded and they have, A) no stake in the outcome, and, B) already play 7-man.
Just a thought.

Good point, Moo-san. Force of Nature has a poll:

http://www.forceofnature.com/modules.php?op=modload&name=NS-Polls&file=index&req=results&pollID=19&mode=thread&order=0&thold=0

It is a lot more "American" and out of 223 votes: 47% go with Chuck, 27% go with PSP standard, 21% go with PSP X-ball.

PbNation has a similar poll, theirs also much more American:

http://www.pbnation.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=151412

They show that out of 45 votes, 65% prefer NPPL and 22% prefer PSP 10-player.

Again, we know that the herd mentality will prevail. Many teams will simply go where they believe most of the other teams will go. That's has been one of the strongest attractions to NPPL/PSP and Millennium: teams want to pit themselves against the best of their peers in order to test themselves against the best and in order to have bona fide bragging rights. Richard Telford of SC Ironmen put it something like that on another thread. It would be good if, along with the top competition, the people who pay for the events would get the basic respect of value for their money invested. Namely quality judging, decent venues and adequate facilities. I hope it's the promoters that do just that who get the teams and no-one else.

Interesting figures.
Seems like a lot of US players have little faith in what the PSP is up to.
Baca, no need to think of me as poor, as I am covered in bling :D . I took in account that the majority of the regular posters in here are European, so the outcome would be at least somewhat biased. But that doesn't mean that it isn't worthwhile knowing, does it?

Matski, I was standing right behind you when Chip was talking to you at one point. Trust Chip to forget to introduce his teammates, he didn't say who you were until a lot later on. :p
