At teh CPPS, our Millennium based x ball format works out as follows.

7 players on a team, 5 on a field at start of match. Teams get 4 x 10 min matches which are race to 4 points.
Entry fee is £235 (with season discount) split between 7 = £33.57 per player.
Average paint use is around 12 boxes per event @ £25 per box, or £300 per team/£42.86 per player.

Gives you around £80 per player with 7 players on a team.

We dont enforce the roster restrictions that the millennium have at there events, so alot of teams will play with 10 players to reduce costs further.

Just wondering guys ....
I never had the chance to play 7 man (started playing early 2008)
Will someone thats had experience in 7 man give me the pros and cons of 5man over 7man ?
And also why it died out and do you believe its ever make a return ?
Thanks
7 man was great, but not without its flaws. Basically in the old days you would have 6 different fields set up at a tournie, and you would spend ages making various game plans for each field. Why? Because you only get one chance against each team. You play them once, so, for example a guy plays on and you loose the game, then thats it, you lost. No 2 minute turn around and try again.

Fields were bigger, large bunkers at the back, a huge themed bunker in the middle somewhere. Used to take 8-10 pods of paint out "just incase" lol

Heres the bit I liked....... NO SIDELINE COACHING YAY! You could actually come up with moves all by yourself, and no-one knew you were coming! YAY! :first:

Used to be semi auto until organisers realised that people cant shoot over 15bps in real life, and the 20bps coming out of all guns had to be assisted, and so came the weird gun limiting rules and regulations and general gun mode policing that you see today.

It died because there was a push for a format that wasnt boring as hell to watch, and Xball was born, implemented, we all decided it was 10x funner to play and you could watch it AND stay awake!
Now we know that there is no hope for paintball to ever be that successful on TV, and we are stuck with an amazing format, but it costs quite a bit.

For me, the current xball format is perfect, although I really think its ruined by coaching.
