Have had expensive and cheap air systems alike :)

Had an Angel Air, had nothing but problems with it. Leaking from the side vent, creeping pressure, rocket damaged in it... don't seem to be the only one either as others with Angel airs seem to have similar problems. Massively over priced system for its reliability and functionality imho.

Strangely the two most reliable systems I have had were my cheapest. My fixed output nitroduck never flinched once in the time I had it, and then my nitroduck x-stream again has been no problem to me :) Strange how both regs are under £80.

I'm a great believer in keeping it simple and reliability, and have found that the 'cheaper' alternatives offer better value and reliability.

Same opinion here - keep things simple if possible. That said, build quality on the cheaper regs (esp presets) isn't up to the top-end adjustables.

Had a PMI Pure Energy preset and it worked fine - but it did suffer from the odd leak around the fill nipple and I found the reg+asa combo a bit cumbersome.

Personally I wouldn't buy an Angel AIR - I don't like the looks, you pay all that money and you don't even get an on/off and I'd resent paying a premium for a LCD readout when a gauge would be just as good.

Not see anyone using one of the new AA Armageddons yet, but the on/off with downstream bleed sounds very nice.

I use an AGD Flatline - nice and light, easy to strip and has a built-in on/off.

Macdev 2k3 Conquest, hands down IMO. Fully balanced operation, so it doesn't need an inline reg as well, flow as good as the maxflo but it's soooo tiny -- allowing for the mounting harware, it works out lighter than a screw-in preset. Super-consistent, whether at 150psi or 650, built-in on/off and a snap to rebuild if you need to (I've had mine apart a couple of times to clean the seat, etc. but not had to replace anything yet.) The only possible mark against it is the lack of UK-based support, but since they ship everything by 48-hour Fedex, and their technical support is great, I don't lose any sleep over that. Hop over to www.macdev.net and have a look.

p.s. No, I'm not sponsored by them, but if they're offering... ;) :D

If, on the other hand, you're keeping an inline reg, get a preset. They're cheap, simple, there's not much to go wrong with them. Far less hassle in the long run than an adjustable reg that doesn't need adjusting.

i have used geddon, preset and max flow.

all have good and bad points but i will not state them as look through the tech room forum and all the complains will be listed and in the clasifieds all the pro will be listed.

overall my preference is...

the preset (centerflag 5000psi).

I believe you need a lower input pressure for a speed, which was one of the things WDP were critisied about when they released it :(

You could however use a Nitroduck X-stream (the adjustable screwin version of there fixed pressure). Quite a few people on here use them, me Budgie, all of Team Pheonix and more :) They are more than happy on a speed.
