imho it depends on the amount of money you want to spend. if you have a fairly tight budget then go for an impy because they shoot really fast (especially with an i-frame) and the mods that most people add don't really do too much to the performance (most just reduce the amount of kick the marker has or the efficiency (i.e. delrin bolts, lpr's, ss hammers etc)). if you have a bit more money a cocker is well worth it. when you pick a stock cocker out of the box you'll end up spending loads of cash on it to really make it rock (i.e. short throw 3 way, better ram and lpr, e-blade, rex kit).
basically if you want something that'll rock out of the box then go for an impy but if you want something to tinker with and add stuff to that will leave you with an (arguably) better marker then go with a cocker (and yes before everyone jumps on me i have owned both cockers and impy's. my preference is a cocker).
hope that helps a bit
rich

erm.. did you mean that, or were you being sarcastic, what on an impulse can you easily strip on field dude??
If you've ever fired a race cocker, with a Egg on top, these things will outdo any other gun. The accuracy a cocker offers maeks a lot of diffrence, which makes wins!!:D
No question about it- cocker

best thing dude is to have a go with both, see what you prefer!

I guess opinions are sorta different here on the otherside of the pond. I have shot a E-Blade, I really dont think its as easy to shoot as an impulse, but thats me. Almost nobody on the fields here uses a elctronically tricked out cocker. So you'll have to understand the bias in my words. I mainly attribute the lack of e-cockers to the fact that Planet Eclipse is on your side of the pond. Take Woodsta's advice, just try shooting both of them. Not everyone can shoot a cocker well so see which one you prefer to hold and which trigger you prefer. In the end you have 2 great markers, so its all personal preference.

ok this is my stats....
i recently got the job of front and probably
wont need a highly long-range weapon. and yes i have shot an
eblade......swweeeett.. but ime just not the sort of person who needs to shoot tons of paint. i get on fine with 200 balls p'game

i wont be doing mutch mods on either . (not enopugh cash)
i know from planet eclipse that an impulse is 339 pounds
and a auto cocker is 297 pounds (my pound sign has busted)
..not much of a price diference realy so that isnt an issue
or i could swap my markers

i have a spyder shutter a bit batterd but i guarrentee it will work

and a tagline ts1 i has got its problems (mainly cuz i dont have a clue how to use it properly) comes with
mobile unit ..arm rest, coild tube. and an evaporator thingy.
three 60 shot pots and a chain fead (sort of like a magazeen)
and dosent have a hopper :D (dam things they are!)

Basically neither marker shoots further or more accuratly then the other (thats just an old wives tale) its all down to paint & barrel match and consistency.

Both markers can have parts upgraded in order to make them more consistent and look prettier.

Cockers are over complicated with all the timing that need to be adjusted and short stroking can be a b***h Becuase of the timing on them.

Impulses are far simpiler in there operation and can be stripped and and reassembled very easily and quickly.

As for ROF in my experience i can fire my I-Frame far quicker then an e-bladed cocker and so can the owners of the e-bladed cockers..

But as i said dont be persuaded to either one becuase people say that one can fire further then the other or is more accurate its simply not true...

it if it was my choice i would choose an eclipse impy, they look wkd and the rate of fire is amazing (with i-frame). also the blade triggers that come on all eclipse impys are sweet.
