Right, so...

I may be moving on from my little 08SLG soon, and I have my eye on Eteks. I really want something efficient, reliable, easy to maintain and to be easily upgradable over time. I guessed the Etek
All I really want to know is:

What are the fundamental differences between each Etek? For example, if I were to add the basic ups to an etek1, would it the same as an Etek2 with the same ups? Basically, is it worth going for an Etek2 over Etek1 for the extra money?

AND

What are the current prices of secondhand Eteks? I have around 250 to play with, but any money spare will always be a help.

And another: Is it worth waiting for the composite Etek3, just for the warranty?

Thanks in advance

My only issue with the E3 is that it's half composite. I understand that it already comes with a cure1 and zick kit, but for the price of a second hand E2 I could could get the same in an all metal version, obviously excluding the warranty.
Since I'm moving away from my SLG because I want something a little more substantial, I don't really want to head to another composite marker unless it's massively better than the E2, everybody reccomends it and I have the ability to upgrade it to the AM version.

Alot of people misunderstand composite... the composite used is actually used in alot of military weapons (I've heard it is used in a few pistols etc.), it isn't the plastic used in action figures if thats what your wondering. The composite plastic used is actually stronger than quite a few metals.

Personally, I'd go for a new Etek 2 or 3 (when it comes out of course if you go for the Etek 3) if you come across extra cash, like I said, that's entirely personal, I just like the idea of having a warranty to back me up incase something bad goes wrong with the gun. If I purchase a second-hand marker and something goes wrong, my knowledge is fairly limited and it'd be a PITA for me to fix - though you may be more comfortable buying second-hand!

ive have a etek1, had it for a year and a bit now, was the first marker i owned. even when i didnt know anything about markers was still easy as to maintian,
ive put a cure2, zick kit and cp trigger on it, its a lovely little marker and still able to stay within the 10.5 bps limit.
its a marker i am going to keep, ive shot a few egos which yes shoot a little better but also shot some egos which my etek walks over,
for the price a 2nd hand etek is now there awsome.
as for etek1 and etek2 differnce im not sure except i believe the etek2 is lighter

I know about composites on markers, the SLG I'm using is mostly composite and i played hockey for a long time, almost all decent sticks are a fibreglass/composite mix.
I'd prefer AM or the option to upgrade to AM simply so I can reanno way down the road to make it a truly personal marker.
Picky, I know. But it's a big purchase.

Ainsley PM'd me about the differences of the two, and I have to admit I'm leaning towards the Etek2.

That's really what I'm looking for. Something that I can really make my own and still be a great shoota. My SLG is great, easy function, easy to maintain, but almost no scope fo upgrades or personalisation. It'll just be an SLG.

Fair enough :p
Personally, looks aren't everything, the Etek markers look fine to me and as long as it shoots ropes, I'm good :p

I can understand you wanting to personalize it though! I would if I had the extra cash, but like I said, I'm happy with the looks and colours of the Etek line as it is.

Wait for a more serious price drop on second hand etek2s and then buy one second hand. In actual use, the etek1 isn't that much different to the etek2 but a second hand etek2 is more likely to be in better condition, and they are more comfortable to play with in my opinion.

I've ruled out the E1, I think I'll just wait for more info on the Etek3 before i get anything.
Thank for all your help and info.
I shot a few pots worth through an Etek 3 AM today. Its worth the wait;)

Overall, the looks, feel , sound and size is very much similar to the 07's and 08's.
As for the price tag of being a mid range marker, my personal opinion would say this marker leans more towards being a high end marker.
