Hi i'm completely new to the sport , well i've been to delta force Houston (spelling?) but i went with the police and got everything free and bought a few extra painballs to top up after each game. With the introduction of the scotkart arena which is more accesible for me (i'm 16) and the fact that a few of my friends will be able to drive soon enough I've got a few questions reguarding paintballs.

Now I understand that these places make the majority of their money off you buying paintballs from them but the peices are far too much for me atleast. I'm not just talking about Scotkart here but how are these places for bringing your own paintballs? I don't have my own equipment so thats my dilema really. I'm a new player not prepared to pay the prices of the paintballs yet needing their equipment. I'm been looking around the forums and hearing about walk on days but as I said i'm new and don't really fancy playing experienced players.

I'm looking to get into the game but these seem to be the drawbacks to the game. I'm not looking to be a serious player but to play as much as I can. Mabey a few games during the summer.

To sum it up the questions are:

-Paintballs , bringing your own how do places feel about this?

-Walk on days , is it full of serious teams?

I can't really sum up the rest of my questions but I'm weary about going due to costs (I'm not too worried tbh but getting a few m8s to go when it goes into £50 just for paintballs is kinda hard.)

Hopefully you will get back to me with this and thanks to whoever does.

p.s: I was looking around the forums in reguards to these questions and may have missed where it did say that so sorry if I did.

The walk-on places usually allow you to bring your on paint(or pay about £30 for a box of 2000 balls)

and also, walk-ons are just about having fun, there are experienced players that go, but they are really helpful, and will even let you have a go of their gear if you ask them very nicely:D.

Oh and welcome to the forums mate

if you have any questions just ask, and we will do our best to answer them, most of us are pretty nice on these forums:cool:

Thanks for the quick response. Do these walk on days happen often and how do you find out about them? Also would I need to bring a certain ammount of players to make up some kind of team or is at mixies as i like to call it when i do football =]. £30 for 2000 is the price i'm looking for tbh but really i'm looking for me and a few m8s to get ourselves a good game of paintball for a reasonable price. I'm hell bent on getting my ass to paintball again but my m8s as it seems arn't being convinced due to the high prices as some have said on the forums for punters.

Fields usually post up walk-on dates in the Scenario and rec-ball section of this website.

The usual price of walk-ons will be about £40(£25 for paint, £15 field fees)

The teams are mixed up. you don't need any friends to go with you, i usually go on my own (im lonely:D:()

Welcome, I still am relatively new myself, i bought my own gear with advice from many friendly people on these forums then attended a walk on near myself, after a couple of walk ons i cannot get enough of it, little intimidating at first but they are all about fun with a good grade of competitiveness, where abouts are your from mate ?

I'm from Greenock , about 45 mins away from Glasgow , I have been doing a bit of fishing about and trying to gather asm uch info as I can because I am looking to get a good few games but not end up completly bankrupt. At delta force its £8 per 100 which for me is completly out of the question. The scotkart is i think £5 per 100 but it u buy 700 although still i'm looking for the best way to go about things. As I said i'm 16 with about £50-£70 to spend depending on whatever although i think my friends are more in the 30-40 department (i'm not confident enough to go on my own =p)

Welcome to the forums mate. Paintball sites have expenses and staff to pay and their money is made from paint as you said. You won't find a site that will let you bring your own paint on a normal day because they wouldn't make any money, it's just business sense. Many sites do walkons but you are still looking at £40 minimum and you'll require your own kit. Paintball is expensive, harsh reality dude.
