A couple of years ago I used to play with a few friends at the northern quarter, the newbie days they held etc etc. I used to think it was really good fun, but for one reason or another, well I didn't have much money back then or a car, I stopped playing and sold my gear, now later down the line I'm older and more mature (and I have a car) Im thinking about starting playing again and basically Im just a little curious as to the state of the game, because I've heard very little about it, besides one random BBC news article. So I jsut have a few questions to ask really;

What way do you think would be best for me to get back into everything?
Is the Northern Quarter still going strong?
How much is it going to cost me to kit myself up again? I only assume prices have changed, what with this credit crunch.

Thanks In advance guys, I remember you being a friendly bunch.

North East, Sunderland
regarding the price of kitting up, it could cost anything from about £200 - £1000's to get the essentials, as far as i know the Northern Quarter is still going.
and welcom to baller:)

Getting back into it

To answer your questions in turn:-

1. Seeing as you are based in Manchester, train at Northern Quarter as much as you can. Asylum Paintball in Stockport will be opening its doors later this year for all year round training.
2. You can get all your gear from Planet Eclipse, and sound advice from them also. Or you
can buy second-hand from this forum. Exercise caution when buying air tanks second- hand and always buy new lenses for second-hand goggles.
3. This depends how much you have to spend - around 400 - 450 will get you (2nd hand) an Ego 5, air tank, goggles, loader, pants & jersey and pack.

See also the Northern Quarter threads in the "Training Sites" section of this forum - they are open on 21/22 June using the Paris Millennium layout.

what kind of budget are you looking at? If you'd like an ego then you got a choice between ego5 and ego9 so it would really depend on your budget.

There is an ego8 on sale now for 340 which is a very sweet deal. You can also get ego9s for 500-600 from the forums or from PE (they have a few second hand markers on their website). If I was just starting out again then finding a deal on an ego8 would be ideal.

Erm around £600-800 seems like a fair amount and what I'd be willing to spend for the lot.

That will be more than enough to get some very good gear. Most of it you can get on here second hand. It will save you quite a lot of money as a lot of the stuff sold on here is cheap and in good condition. Just going to give you a few examples of what you can get on here

1. Ego8 - 340-440
2. Mask - a proflex or some nice grills for 25-40
3. Hopper -Rotor for 90, vlocity 40-50
4. Eclipse Elbow pads - 10-20
5. Eclipse Knee pads - 15-25
6. pack - a dye or NXe pack 20-35
7. Nice carbon wrap bottle - 70-100
8. Pants - Proto 09 pants 35 / 09 eclipse pants 75-90
9. jersey - Planet Eclipse 09 distortion 35ish

Cheers man, thats what I was looking at buying, so I take it the Halo hoppers aren't going as well anymore? Are empire e-vents still around too?

God I've been out of the loop for so long, feels good to be back man.

Well the hoppers that everyone seems to be looking for is the Dye Rotor and Empire Prophecy. I have a rotor and couldnt be more happy at the moment. I personally wouldnt get a halo because Ive had bad experiences with it. With the rotor or the prophecy you wont need to buy extra shells due to cracks etc as they are made from different materials. Real quality products.

About the masks, eventz are still about. There is even an 09 version so I'm sure you can grab a pretty good price on the older model of the eventz that you are referring too. You can get them from 35-45 depending on condition and the amount of lenses that come with the sale.
