Tournament paintball is already dieing and if this goes ahead players will have to buy new everything and they just cant afford that, unless they come up with some cheap way to make .50 balls work with the current markers.

Yes it will be cheaper in the long run but its the money needed to be spent by players to get the correct set up and there will be a massive decline in participation until a few years when people can afford to get the gear and get back into paintball.

So i think there will a plummet when this happens but should pick up about two years after.
Ses, you are completely and utterly wrong mate, so wrong in fact, you are more wrong, than Mr Wrong, living in the wrong house, in the Wrong street in Wrongsville on the island of Hong Wrong.

Nobody is forcing anybody to buy anything and so I just can't fathom why you think there will be a 'plummet' [your words not mine].
The people who will buy the new 50 cal markers and paint will be first timers and guys who can afford it, those who can't afford it, won't buy and will just continue playing as will everybody else ......

Personally I think it will be a gradual change, no one will expect everyone to replace everything at the drop of a hat.

I can see companies copying the DM eye pipe to reduce the breach size for the short term, a reduced bolt head and barrell bores then the complete marker.

It'll be a gradual change, remember its not just tourney players to consider there are hundreds of sites who couldn't afford to change everything at a whim.

It'll all sort itself out for the better.

Well according to techpb this change will take place at world cup, and all major tournaments will follow now in techpb this discussion has been going on for ages now and people have come to a conclusion that when world cup and psp and uspl change to 0.50 the players of those tournaments will have to change there markers because it will become the std paintball of the event.

Not all teams at psp are sponsored so the lower divisions may just stop going.

Sorry but tournament paintball is dieing why do you think the NPPL collapsed? to many wrong decisions. Also people are realizing they may spend up to £800 at an event including accommodation ect and what do they get back? bragging rights about how there good.

what ever America does there little b***h follows, thats us the Brits.

Btw in my earlier post i was talking about sup air and major events not everyday recball

With the UK federation starting will we have to conform to American rules?

Surely we should be at a point where UK paintball can stipulate its own rules?

And I suppose we could have a cottage industry to support the 374 tournamnet ballers in this country, producing markers in .68 cal.....

This is change on a massive scale, mainly through the customer / rec scene. tournament dies if it won't or can't change.

I think the people leading this, are smarter than many give credit too.

Sorry stongle, I didn't mean segragate ourselves completely, I meant more of a gradual change within the UK, as far as Im aware gear etc is cheaper in the USA and wth paintball being more widespread over there I can understand a quicker change, but with the sport still growing in the UK they can't expect us to change at the same rate.

Ses, now, you see that's where your problem is, in that very first line, you got your 'opinion' from elsewhere, techpb in this case.
When I write my opinion, it is my own and a derivative of my rationale, my own experience and the [first-hand] information I have at hand ..... Ses, look up my credentials mate, I'm qualified to comment :)

ive seen it happen as well, i don't doubt your credentials but i am saying that tournament paintball is dieing as it simply don't make enough money, trade shows are getting smaller events have less funding. This may not be affecting us yet but it has hit American paintball hard and will undoubtably affect us because that how things go. Doing this will just speed the process up incredibly, im doubting it will effect rec ball as the people who play are rentals and needn't worry about gear.
