I'm selling an item on ebay, it's just a PC game but the seller is asking about shipping to Portugal. I'm not too fussed if the deal goes tits up as it's only a small amount, but what got me thinking is that their account was created 17-10-2004, and they've only bought 4 items, the last being 02-04-2005.

Seems a bit dodgy, like possibly a hacked account. What do ya reckon? Do I risk it for a biscuit? Report them to eBay?

i get these all the time, wait a couple of days before sending it out, and if ebay sends you an email telling you not to pay, send etc to the person then you know it was/is a scam.

...ask him to send you a cheque for 15000USD and that you'll take what you need and send a cheque back with the difference.

But it needs to be shipped to your aunt in Nigeria...
Sounds like the way forward....

I've decided to ignore the fella. Just had a think and I've got enough in my paypal that if they cause a dispute over a silly little item and have it all frozen it would be a pain in the arse! Just not worth it! Cheers for the suggestions anyway.

uhhh...

hold on? so the only thing this persons done is contact you to ask if you'll ship abroad?

easy answer to this - ''If you are the winning bidder, then i'm sure we can come to some arrangement regarding shipping'' or ''sorry, i can only post within the UK''

you get the money, then ship - as with all ebay transactions. as far as i'm concerned there is nothing dodgy about what he's done, and its just rude to ignore him. Proof of shipping is a must as with all transactions anywhere. if he causes a dispute then you just whip out the proof of shipping..

It's buy it now, so no auction and I have my settings so that I only ship to the UK usually. Now if someone from abroad requests specifically then I will reconsider, especially if they seem genuine, but his history seems a bit random which has just planted the seed of doubt in my mind. I understand about proof of postage, get the money etc. But I'm sure many of us know that just because the money shows in your paypal doesn't mean a dispute can't arise or the buyer can't try to claim it back. eBay have already showed that they like to side with buyers in that I don't believe sellers can leave negative feedback for buyers anymore. In the end, I just figure it's more hassle than it's worth - main reason I block foreign bidders to begin with.
I just asked what other people thought.

And I didn't mean literally ignore him, I have responded in a polite and courteous manner as always, telling him to piss off because I think he's a scammer. :)

Not really. I didn't call him a scammer.

If its shipping to nigeria mate, its a scam. As ******ia has no laws or very weak ones regarding internet fraud.
And you will get a fake email from pay pal. So make sure you log into your paypal account first before sending anything.
