As you have read from my loads of posts and other crap i post. I'm trying to get all my mates in Berkshire into paintball (my mates in notts can't affored it atm).

I have had 2 very good event with them and they have started to buy allot of equipment. The problem is i'm not sure how to tell them all to stop buying crap (i did myself and don't want them to do the same)? E.g. my mate bought a spyder and it snapped the metal bolt stopper :s

The good thing is 5 have bought themal lenses atm with either proflex or events.

I have just bought 2 markers for 2 of the guy that means only 4 of 22 have markers atm and only 5 have masks.

I'm just trying so hard what to say to them now? I can keep saying this marker is crap but not owning it myself i can't give reasons. Only one i know is cos there cheap and break. But they like cheap.

The guys that have bought the markers and masks are loving it tho and are buying other parts and upgardes like crazy :D

I'm just glad i'm helping the sport cos it gives me more targets

1st to buy: Mask
2nd: Hopper
3rd: Gas Bottle
4th: Pod Pack
5th: Marker

  • the reason you buy your hopper second is so that they don't need to keep shaking the bloody thing to get any balls coming through. (tip: buy the best hopper you can afford so you don't need to upgrade in the future)
  • you buy the gas bottle 3rd because some sites arent very reliable with filling their bottles up so you don't need to worry about running out of air mid game.
  • you buy the pod pack 4th because it means with more air and a reliable hopper you can fire more paint.

the rest of the gear will improve their play immensly while giving them time to save up and research markers themselves. also helps if they go and test different markers so they get a slight grasp of what they are looking for themselves. you can go with them and add input and improve your own grasp of different markers

i can suggest maybe looking at epiphanys, great markers for beginners and you can pick them up second hand fairly cheap. very accurate, comfortable in the hands and has different firing modes to choose from on the standard board. also easily upgradable as it's a smartparts marker.
another one to look at is maybe a pmr? how cheap is cheap in their eyes? :p

just a thought, how bout getting them to a "major" sup air tournament like penkridge or masters, so they'll see the gear in use etc etc, maybe try some kit out might help them move towards better gear?
