Bearing in mind that the old style steel posts on the Div 3 field completely buckled under the wind (read FUBAR'd) I think the fact that the new fields can be deflated when necessary is a good idea. As a concept, they are great and i had no issues watching games on them, granted they do need improving mind.

Those poles only buckled whilst being taken down - they released the tension in the netting and then slowly took it down (as in releasing it all the way round, then coming back and dropping it!), as opposed to releasing the tension and swiftly dropping the damn stuff. Up until that point, the netting was holding on and was being reinforced at a couple of points - as a couple of people next to said, it looked as if the Millennium just gave up.

Actually, the poles that were holding up the netting on the M5 field couldn't handle the wind and the netting on the D2 field were being supported by a trucklike thing. Basicly had there been 5 fields with the old system it would've been cancelled aswell. I personally don't think there was anything the millenium could've done to prevent what happened to the fields. They could've kept the players more informed but other than that I think they handled the situation pretty well.
