Critical Mass

When you mentioned critical mass, I thought you meant Piper had finally been reclassified as a planetoid. :D

Seriously though, I get whet you mean. There is an awful lot of anger brewing under the surface here too. I feel it myself as well, everytime I see that Harry Potter look-alike that's supposed to be in charge of my country, talking about "problems". It makes me wonder what planet he is from.

What makes the problem even worse, is that some political parties are now becoming very popular because they tend to go against the establishment, but these people are even more stupid and tend to blame the wrong people for whatever's going wrong here.

I'd say it's time for another November 1917. Power to the people!

A bit long, but couldn't stop!!

I agree completely, but I fear that as a nation, Britain has more of a 'shut up and put up' culture going on. Possibly because our hands have been tied by the law for so long that people are afraid to exercise their inherent right to self defence.

Maybe I'm selling us short but I got really riled by the Gary Newlove incident in Warrington (kicked to death by scrotes outside his own house). I foolishly thought, that'll be it now, there'll be an outcry and people will demand more powers to defend what's theirs (maybe I've been working for the yanks too long!). But there was the usual brief period of concerned muttering, some questions asked as to why said scrotes hadn't been banged up before, then everyone read the next headline.

Yeah they caught them and they got sent down, but it's a bit late for his wife and daughters. I, for one, would have done the same as him, only my hands wouldn't have been empty and I'd have made sure I wasn't the only one on the ground by the end of it. But that's me, I'd rather go down fighting than live hiding behind my curtains waiting for the cops to show up.

That probably makes me foolish, maybe even juvenile, but it's the way I'm built and I'd do it knowing full well that if I was the last one standing, I'd probably be sent to jail. This sickens me. The high profile case in recent history was Tony Martin, shot two burglars in his house and got jailed for it. It's my opinion that he was well justified in doing so.

If there is any danger of the UK reaching a critical mass and those who are able and willing taking back the streets for good folks, I'm in. But I think it may be about half a dozen of us, with the real mass backing us with kind words and apathy.

I totally agree - yes, there has been a growing resentment for years, and it seems to hit a new peak each week.

It is pretty obvious regularly reading the posts on the BBC News 'Have Your Say' boards. Two years ago most threads were maybe split 60/40 against the side of the government or the status quo. These days it is more like 99% against. I really don't think our government quite appreciates just how much it is despised now.

Living in the UK is starting to become so like living within the storyline of 'V for Vendetta' it is quite surreal !

It is unfortunate that modern history and politics/economics has been off the main curriculum in schools for so long that most of us now have no ideas on how we might improve things. I guess we shall just have to make do with smashing some windows !

Personally, I think boiling point is still some time away, but we're getting there, ... it seems unavoidable (and probably about time too).

....I cant wait to be able to move away from here later on in life if the opportunity comes, australia is tempting me.

this is what a lot of people have been saying they want to go live in oz, there system is much better a lot less trouble on immigration because they are so strict, because of this they have a much more stable society. I am not saying that immigrants have caused the country to nose dive but they have been a controbuting factor, especially if they dont work and just sponge off the system. Enock powell a conservative MP in the 70's said that if immigrants were let into the country that this would happen and now England is starting to realise it. Also this doesnt help that england is such a small country and can't deal with the huge influx people that have been allowed into the country over the past 40 years.

I think the problems are numerous but overall, they all stem from the fact that we have become way too liberal and have fallen into the pit of trying to "do the right thing by everybody" - at great cost to 'honest', hard working people.

A very, very successful investor recently said that capitalism without failure is like Catholicism without hell - it simply does not work. In other words people have to fail, there have to be winners and losers for it to work, because if we help to make everybody a winner, pretty soon people stop trying for themselves and making things happen.

Unfortunately, we have somehow developed a system whereby people are rewarded for being losers - for not bothering to get out of bed, get an education, go to work, slapping their teachers. I recently read about some parasite having 8 kids (some living, some imaginary) and claiming around £72,000 a year in benefits. I don't blame her for doing it, I blame the system for letting it be even remotely possible for such a crazy thing to be happening.

I don't think it’s fair to point the finger at "those migrant workers" because the fact is many of them are doing jobs we either do not want to do or are not willing to work hard enough doing to deserve! I watched some show a while ago where the presenter found Polish workers earning over 20k a year picking veg for farmers in this country. When they went and asked young, healthy men on the dole why they were not doing it too, they said they would "rather stay signed on and get pissed" (while chucking a can at some old lady). Which just about sums up why Britain is a shadow of its former self. If there was any justice in the world, a person with such an attitude would be starving to death - and the fact is in some countries they would be.

There probably needs to be another war for people to learn the value of hard work and life. Obviously if it's nuclear we won't have to bother...which would no doubt come as a relief to some.

I blame thatcher, it's always her fault.
Since she pointed the country in the general direction of the 'game theory' model that individual selfishness and greed always leads to a more stable society, I think you are absolutely right.

Shame really, because I'm sure she did it with the best of intentions.

I guess we are (re-)discovering where that path leads.

Anyone for socialism (yawn) ?

One day there will be a General Election, those that can be bothered will vote.

This will be followed by a new Government and an ensuing 'Honeymoon Period' where everything seems better and the media will spend less time sniping at the politicians.

Given time, feelings will change, and the majority of sentiment will consider those in power to be a bunch of detestable, lowlife, thieving, corrupt ****ers!

This is the way of democracy.

And so the cycle will resume.

An extremely wise man once remarked,

'No matter who I seem to vote for, the government always get in'

... I think that just about sums it up ....they are all scumbags ......and not only that, the vast majority are so out of touch with the average man, they effectively exist in ivory towers and of no use whatsoever in terms of representing us ...they just milk whatever they can...and then some, they have no dignity and no morals.....they need to be injured because the law cannot touch them and no argument move them ...they are beyond effective control and as such, will respond to only one thing ......
