You see them every day, those who claim to be physically unable to work only to be uncovered to be riding a jet ski on their hols in benidorm.

You pass them in the street, with about 15 kids and considering having another when the possibility of work looms.

They are out there breeding a whole new generation of future scroungers and teaching them the tricks of the trade.

I know it bothers me that the tax on my hard earned gets spent on some complete wastes of space.

How can we make the system more balanced?

I say they should be out there doing work in the community and not getting something for nothing like they are now.

Thoughts?

THe issue we have is its too easy for them not to work.

I remember my old land lady, faked MS, no **** faked it would be absolutly fine until she had to prove her disability, she claims about $90k a year in health care and benefits all because she couldnt be arsed to work.

Now i also know someone with servere health issues, now she could probably maintain a small 10 hour a week job, she herself would admit it, but she would loose so much financially that she cant afford to work - and trust me she hates being at home. Because of having crones she is prone to quite nasty relapses. Right now shes on a maximum benefits she can recive, now if she new she wouldnt relapse she would give them up- however if she takes a small job and a massive cut in her benefits then needs to claim again she loses her maximum rate (which doesnt cover alot).

Theres something rather screwed up about our system, those who want to work but are only able to do a small amount that pays not enough to live off lose out all together, so are forced to give up and take full benefits. Those who wanna screw up the system can and do so.

There needs to be a happy medium, a way to encourage work not make going back to work un-rewarding.

I agree with you Kitty, because of my health problems i have gone for interviews and when i have told the employer about how my disability affects my work, then alot of them look at me different, which is a shame because i would love to work again.

However the town that i live in there are a lot of people leave school and next thing you know they are pushing a pram and have never done a days work in their lives and they think that they are owed something from people.

Too damn right mate its too easy to coast along on benifits people i know do it and its stupid.

I currently am in annoyance as recently a woman i know went to a millitray company i think called rafa, and claimed money out of them.

They are a charity like thing that financialy help ex service men and woman.

as she used to be a dental nurse with the army and she is getting her house redecordated , refurbished and new appliances pluss £3000 worth of food and clothing vouchers.

And that was supposed to be for people who lost a leg or something and she can be botherd to get a job.

its just wrong.

however speaking of which i think that there should be national service brought in for 2 years, for the ages of 16-18 in which you would join the military and train in whatever studdies you would take at college as well as military training as i believe that you learn a lot in the army about respect, and other such things

National Service could solve some of the problems you mention, on the other hand it could create many more.

Would you honestly put your life on the line in hope a 18 year old thick as a castle wall charv is going to back you up? Dont think so :D

Changes to basic training would probably sort out most of the 'thick as a castle wall charv' - esque people; you would be surprised what a short sharp shock can do to most people's lives.
Moreover, if you get them young before they really have a chance to turn into utter wasters then the army would have an easier job; just because the existing system doesn't lend itself very well to my proposal, doesn't mean an improved one wouldn't.
