Ok basicly i have shot ego's for along time now and i love them to bits, im not very good at looking after my gear and it seams to be bulit proof, now a really want to move onto a DM however how relible are they, how easy is the maintance on them, and how easy is it to fix when somthing does go rong on the day

cheers

DM's and proto's are very reliable as long as you look after them, all this involves is clean and lubing up the bolt either after you have finished playing or before you play again and making sure you have a fresh battery fitted. Takes about 2 minutes from start to finish.
With regards to trouble shooting as long as you read the manual, shouldn't be a drama, most problems only require a new o ring fitted also there are quite a few people that can help you around at most of the southern tourneys.

I've been using matrix's since 2005 and really haven't had a drama with them.

Hope this helps

Matt

Ego's are solid mate, im exactly the same, finish playing and just leave it, my 07 has been battered and bruised and its still going even though ive had it for 4 months :p. i was looking to get a DM ages ago and i looked at how reliable and effeciant (hoping thats how you spell it) and well the ego wins, 10/12 pods and you will have air left with the newest ego's, DM's about 5/6 pods and your out and a 4000psi fill. Ego's you know when something is wrong, its either simple or its bad, most of the time its either a battery problem :p, well for me it is :D. hope this helps in some way

In my opinion, you answer your own question. The highlighted comment from your quote is the very reason why you love your Ego, they are a fantastic reliable marker and this is the benefit of the cure bolt over spool valve.

Don't get me wrong, DMs and PMs are lovely markers but you will need to give them some time and attention when you are off the field. They are not a fire and forget gun, they need a lot more lube and cleaning to keep them at the top of their game.

You could compare an Ego to a prostitute; always ready, always available and knows exactly how to impress you.

DMs are more like a high class girlfriend, a little costly to maintain but, with time and the right luvving gives you a performance that will keep you going back for more.

Personally I like the prostitute because it is ever ready lol (this does not reflect my sexual preferences in any way shape or form).

Hope this helps you bubbles

Snax, the 5/6 pods of a 4k fill aint right mate. With a bedded in spooly you should be able to achieve 9-10 pods off 4k.

Hell, ive only had my DM9 a week and its only had 3 cases through it but im already getting 8 :)

Love the comparison Jitsu :D lol
