I have a done a fair bit of research. But people have very different opinions.. :'( It's killing me.

I'm currently thinking about getting an SLG from http://paintballstore.tv/Latest-Releases/Proto-Matrix-SLG-ULTRA-Black/ As I watched a review on it earlier and the only thing it seemed to be let down on was the Regulator and the feed neck..

Guys, I really don't know what I'm talking about, I just want a fairly good marker that is good one that I wont have to upgrade to much and I'm getting my money's worth. :/

try before you buy by going to a walk on and talking to people, but the slg is a good marker, but personally i would save my money and get an etek or buy an etek or ego second hand on here

As previously said, go to some walk ons and talk to the guys there. Always worth trying something out before you buy and also you need to decide what sort of paintball you want to play (woodsball, speedball etc). Also, how much are you going to play as if you're only going to play a few times a year then you would be better off using the site markers.

Would also help to know what your budget is. Bear in mind that if you want to buy all your own kit - marker, air bottle, remote hose, battle pack/vest, clothing, pods............the list goes on - then it is going to cost you a fair bit, although you can get some good buys through the forums.

Also need to find out what sort of player you are........are you a sit at the back and defend, or are you a full on 'in their face' player. Again, by playing a few walk ons you will be able to find this out and then if you still want to get your own marker then you will have more of an idea what is suited to you.

Hope this helps and I'm sure you will get more advice.

Welcome to the world of paintball:)

Thanks guys for feedback, I know it's probably annoying n00bs coming in asking the same questions. But I did read the forum and like I said you get a number of answers from allsorts of people each saying different things.

I suppose this is because everyone is different and people have different styles and opinions on markers what they prefer etc.

I think I'm going to go to a few walk ons see what's what, like you guys have said. Ask about.

I know the temptation is their to just go and buy one.. But, think I'm just going to have to control it. I know I don't want to be paying 200pound to find out I want something different.

I didn't know that they have onsite markers of which you can try out.. :/
That's my problem, I don't particularly no much.

Sorry for double post. (Not sure if its against rules :/)

It was speedball that I actually wanted to play, not woodsball.

I wanted to join maybe a team but I don't really know how I'd come about doing it. That's why I'm bit unsure about even getting a marker/clothing.

I really do want to start it as a new hobbie I really do enjoy it. I also don't know like how I'd train etc... Are there like training lessons wiht people etc you can do.

I have been watching many videos on how to do certain things but, I obviously don't get to practice them or get seen by anyone for them to tell me what I'm doing wrong or what could be better...

Check out tech PB on youtube, he did a good review of the SLG and the PMR, you'd probably be better off with a PMR as they weigh about 2g more and they have a better Q lock, check it out on youtube.

I have watched him give a review of the SLG and the Rail and basically he said they were both good guns few diffences between both. He said if you got the money go for the rail, if your on a tight budget go for the SLG.
