Time to roll the dice again with www.sacpb.com … I didn’t get into much trouble last time I read Rich Telford’s email. So we all know Chuck Hench purchased the NPPL name/domains attached to the NPPL. Now I thought that was just to stop anyone coming out with the league again and I guess it was. BUT and this is still being talked about by the board (Chuck, Bart and Rich) on a skype call right now! The US Paintball League is talking about bringing the NPPL name out from the ashes.

What do you think they should do? YES or NO

P.S… I think they said field one will be the field at HB! And a pump event at HB might be on the cards!!!

Wht do you think they should do?

i don't think they should use the NPPL name. all you will have is customers comparing the two different tournaments to each other. all i can hear in my head coming out of peoples mouths is "this isn't like the old nppl"

i say let the NPPL die as it has done and focus on bringing a better tournament series under a different name.

Yeah, all using the NPPL name would do is cause comparisons. Leave it dead and move on to, hopefully, bigger and better things.

BUT

Thats not to say that there arent benifits to using the NPPL. Its a known entity and has some presence outside the paintball industry. I'd say more butfrankly I dont know anywhere near enough about either the reality of the NPPL organisation, the people involved or business relationships in general. I'd rather not make a fool out of myself for speaking cr@p basically!

I think it might please Steve Davidson if the league didn't use his brand-name and a virtually exact copy of his logo (which looks seriously dated anyway). Ironic that Steve is mentioned again, after he famously claimed that the NXL stole his format...

Go with the NPPL. Its traditionally known as the 'Players League', and now that the cap fits I see no reason not to wear it. It would justify the act of buying it back, and defend against 2 probabilities.

1. Steve Davidson accumulating enough money to sue.
2. Chuck branching off with his 'baby' and starting up a 3rd league, with HB as its draw.

Solid advice that will no doubt be ignored....

Missy, last I heard mate, they had nowhere near enough teams signed up.
You are also painfully aware of just how much it costs to put that event on, do you think they can overcome such a massive shortfall?

Last I heard was 72. That was last week. Traditionally HB sells out quicker, but if they are capping at 120 they should still make it, as there is a full month to go. The days of events selling out in 2 hours are long gone of course, but I doubt there is anyone objective who hopes there isn't an HB event.

Came across this theory on another interweb place.....

"The second rumor is that USPL Surf City Open in Huntington Beach may not happen either because not that many divisional teams have registered and paid. The fact that the event is held on the beach makes renting the venue expensive and with not enough teams, USPL can’t pay for it, so…."
yep paintballheadlines.com PSP rumoured to be $300k in debt and looks like MAO may be the last PSP event and USPL may not happen because teams who have signed up have yet to pay.

Only time will tell. As for the NPPL name, I think what label they use right now is the least of their concerns if the rumours above are in fact true.

The PSP may or may not be in debt but I doubt it will be the last, in fact I know it won't.

To give an answer to the question, there are 2 follow-up questions that need to be answered first:

1) Who owns/would own the brand in case it's being re-used for this endeavor?
2) How much money will they want for making it available for use?
