Wicked,i'l get on that,i was laways cautious of taking autocockers apart but when i took the Protege to bits it was a cinch, hardly anything to it,but lots of o rings ! After i've caked everything in dow is it worth leaving it for a few hours to let the o rings expand before trying to gas it up? When do i'l slowly wind on the oops so i dont crank it on too much. The guy i traded it with said it never leaked beofre but hasnt been used for a bit,i bet the o rings just need to swell and they will seal, its dry as a bone in there man.

I'm need to find a place that sells the o ring kits,i think lum or gassy posted up a link for an e bay shop called something earth or earth something, cant find the link when i've tried to back track.

i'l get searching, then again the manual lists the o ring sizes,i might see if i can just buy loads of assorted o rings over here.

Thanks for your help Bon;)
Just No need to cake it and leave it, the swelling occurs naturally, so just lube it up and put it together as normal.

As for the ammount to use, it isnt a tubful per oring obviously, its more along the lines of, enough to be visible, but not enough so that when you insert it into a place it comes oozing out.... imagine putting a damp cloth accross a window and the smudge it leaves thats what your trying to achive on the oring.

Something youll get the feel for as you maintain it.

If you need orings, i suggest http://www.oringmonkey.com/index.php, he sells the kits ready to go, 3 total rebuilds per kit.

I bought the bits needed for my Alias from Oring Monkey and they were spot on - ten rebuilds kit in a nice compartmented box plus some Dow 55 and an O ring Tool cost me $39 delivered.

The dow will swell the Orings to seal, but I also had leak issues with the Alias at first. After much pratting about, I discovered that you need a reasonable output from the LPR for the ram to seat properly and seal. It leaked like a sieve until I wound the LPR up to the IOG reccomended pressure of 75psi, when it worked spot on. I don't know about the protege, but I wound my HPR down to zero, then tweaked it up to a bit over 100, set the LPR and crept it up until the FPS was sorted. There's some excellent stuff on the IOG forum, and PBreview.com is also worth a look - they have loads of archived material.

Top banana,ta very much guys, got me Dow55 today, and realised i've left my imperial allen keys at a mates,DOH!:rolleyes:

Managed to find a little guide on how to service the Gen 5,lots of pictures too.

I'l give the LPR test a go then try the tweak you've mentioned Kev,a little frustrating as the marker works fine and really does riiip . Just an annoying leak. I will perservere.

Once again thanks to all who've been kind enough to chime in.

Have a look on youtube, loads of nerds have videoed themselves stripping markers down, servicing and rebuilding them.

I taught myself how to fix and service Bob Long marqs and closers as there were no techs in the UK.

Good old youtube, yup, god bless those nerds.

I've learnt many a thing on there, was one of my first ports of call but after several hours of searching, cant find a tech video for a protege on there. Found a few tech video links on IOG but unfortunately the links are dead or the videos removed.

I'l keep looking.
