Like I said - I don't blame anybody for wanting to come over here for a 'better' life - as I would no doubt do exactly the same in their situation. I blame the PC Government for letting it get so far out of hand.

Do we really want to start on the MOBO again, because I own MOBO discussions. I could just cut & Paste what I wrote last time if you like, but suffice to say I would LOVE to see a MOWO award. I bet Micheal Flatly would love another gong.

I just speed read the last MOWO thread and have to say that I was thinking more along the lines of Queen as a nominee for a MOWO award with their roots firmly in the classical sector rather than Micheal Flatulence ( Yes, Farrokh Bulsara was born in Zanzibar to Indian parents but his musical influence is well documented as rooted in classical origins!)
Whatever your musical taste, Music of white origins has given us some pretty good stuff over the years. Rock and Roll is firmly of Black ethnicity but Punk Rock and classical Rock are definitely White!

Also, not aimed at anybody in particular, ignorance is rampant in this thread. The wordt kind of ignorance in fact: That of people that think they do good...
It's easier to deal with a straight up Nazi than it is to deal with this. But trust me when I say that unless you have a firm grasp of what it means to be part of a minority (yes I know I'm white), you should not engage in this discussion. And having a few minority mates does not make you legit...

No matter how you put it, ignorance is ignorance, one way or the other.

god what is with this thread theres way WAY to much bull**** going on here , seriously who gives a dam if someone gets called a pikey big ****ing deal, half the time "travelers" are pikey gits who can't afford a teabag, and other times they are just that people who like to travel and dont like to be static in their lives.

I work at a supermarket and we had some travellers move in to a field behind the back of the homebase opposite , and every single night for 3 weeks they got caught trying to steal ****, the kids would come in looking like scruffy little chavs and would try and nick whatever they took a fancy to , and 15 minutes later we would catch there parents trying to steal whatever alcohol they could they there hands on.

Theres a reason stereotypes exist and the main reason is because you do get people that fit into them so perfectly that you cant help but call them pikeys, gippos , chavs what ever.

Because they are... but lets face facts people not every one who wears glasses is a nerd, all black men dont have huge ... planet eclipse egos.

And im not nearly as much of a manly stud as i may appear

I spent nigh on 30 years of my life living in Germany within the German backpatch biker community as an Auslander (Outsider, foreigner) which has given me a sense of what it's like to be different. I could of course shut my mouth and blend into the background without having to change my skin colour. The only time it bothered me was when someone took the p*ss out of my Grammar or accent!
There are still a hell of a lot of Nazi's in Germany (or at least there were 18 years ago)
When I came to England to live I was branded a Jerry and was treated with more prejudice then I had ever encountered abroad! But to hell with it! I survived and when it got too much on either side of the channel, someone got a bloody nose!
The Germans had a better system with regard to foreigners though. You learned to speak German or life was tough! That helped people to integrate!
I'm afraid I find it difficult to sympathise with anyone in this truly diverse and multicultural society playing the Ethnic minority card when all Ethnic groups are so well represented with their own communities and support systems.
There was a time it wasn't so but in my opinion, Just like other dark periods in history when whites had slaves, Arabs kidnapped thousands of Cornish kids to use as concubines and very young kids went down mines and up chimneys, in Britain at least, that time has mercifully passed. Now we have an education system, flawed, two tier, archaic and post code related though it may be, whereby anyone and everyone is presented with an opportunity to lift themselves out of the filth. Sometimes you've just got to stop moaning and make things happen for yourself!
This is kind of my opinion on the whole thread not just in response to Buddha's post which I appreciate was aimed at no-one in particular!

Down in the West Country we refer to all low life thieving scum as "Pikey's"

Seriously though, a lot of people are saying that group X shouldn't complain about racism (for example), while they really have no idea of what group X is going through.

Doing what I do, I naturally spend a lot of time with people from all kinds of ethnic and cultural backgrounds, and I can tell you that even in what's supposed to be a tolerant country (Holland), certain groups still get the "evil eye" from passing police cars.
Now there are many reasons for this, but no matter how you put it, it's wrong.
The biggest problem is not the die hard Sieg Heil people, they are just stupid, it's the people that mean no harm, but who's action are unwittingly racist. And that is ignorance, the lack of knowledge. And a number of people are being racist on this thread without even knowing.

Hope that explains it a little.
