Ok last night i was lying in my bed , now for some reason i was thinking about paintball and the cheesey american movies with short one liners like . "A true underdog story" .So I sat up and was looking for a movie to watch to put me to sleep, then i came across dodgeball the movie. Then it hit me like a bomb , A perfect way to promote the sport would be to show it through film.

I thought create a paintball movie thats based on a current up coming paintball team and show the ins and outs of a team that struggles to pay the entery fee for the tournys that they may enter. Then a sudden burst of victories and wins raises the eyebrows of local onlookers of thinking that paintball means war and is not a sport.

I think if a movie that is based on the structre of my story would create a major oppertuinity for many parties to see that paintball is in fact a sport ,and not a excuse for people to play dress up and act like war men.

In my veiw this will promote the sport a great deal and report paintball

TO THE WORLD....

what do you guys think dont be afraid to tell me that my idea is a no hoper and that it is sh**

sounds cool... think about paintball. compared to most sports its quite difficult to watch if you dont know the ins and outs. if you look at any big sport (that involve balls) you can see the 1 main point, whereas in paintball you've got lots of of different things happening and the paintballs, and even the splats are hard to see by the viewer.
you could probably overcome this by good comentary and like creative camera shots. it could work if a lot of advertisement hype and money pumped in to it. also a famous person and once again a **** load of money, and even then its 50/50
good luck and if a rich texan oil billionare dies and leaves you in his will, call me.....
it would be good but just not that investable, especially at the moment
those are my two pence (or cents?)
sorry about spelling

Its a nice idea in principal but there are just too many things stopping the idea from becomming more. If you could write a killer script and get it to an independant film company that will finance this then good luck.

Tinkering ain’t easy
The paintball demographic is tiny, people just aren't intrested in it. The only way to drag some people to actually watch said film would be to have some amazing A list cast playing the roles of paintballers and that requires money.....Money that studios put in in the thought that they will reach a large audience and recieve a large payout back.

Now with reference to my first point, the paintball demographic is tiny, people with any interest in the "sport" is tiny. Studios ain't going to fund a film with little return (and a very difficult to understand concept) and so what we are left with is not a "movie" but intead an individual filming his local team on a hand held camera, with terrible visual quality and little to no coherence whatsoever.

So to conclude my ramblings....NO CHANCE whatsoever of it either happening or being viewed by the gazzilions of people you expect to be intrested in it.

Sorry an all that but this idea goes in the same plac as "getting paintball into the olympics" or "getting paintball on tv" aint gonna happen. Just enjoy playing it yourself and let everyone else discover the sport/hobby if they so wish.

You have a point.

I think everyone is thinking of the wrong type of film. I think the type of film you need, is exactly similar to Dodge Ball, not Heroes for a day style.

The hits will be shown very well, a bit of CGI and more scripted then anything.

But Its not going to happen, unless we make a draft and make it big in Myspace or Facebook.
