You only need to turn down the velocity for the sake of the person you are shooting at.

If using them for target shooting just make sure you put something behind what ever your shooting at to stop any riquochets, when they hit something hard they come back at you as fast as when they left your gat. ;)

In a match your correct, you usually set your fps to around 250. However, if your just practicing alone, target shooting for instance then by all means its fine to shoot at your desired fps.

Be aware though, reballs have a tendancy to eat detents alot faster than paintballs ;)

EDIT - CRASH beat me too it, bugger :D

i'v also heard that using another spare barrel would stop your main barrel from getting scratched to crazy on the inside

just a pointer, reballs at 250fps will absolutely cane! I recommend 230 unless you're playing on a full-sized field (unlikely). And yeah, spare barrel is worthwhile unless you clean your reballs every time, they pick up dirt and dust really quickly.

You been shot by reballs much...?
Most weekends for the last two years, and lemme tell you, taking a reball to the noggin at close range hurts at 250fps. I will concede, however, that our gym is pretty small, and if we were playing a larger field 250 would be fine (they slow down quicker than a paintball so you kinda need the extra velocity). I shoulda clarified that, my bad.

Took about 6 in the head from 20 foot away the other weekend and it stung less than a paintball. Maybe the ones we shoot are soft? ;)
