Hi,

I have my first ever tournament this weekend and was after some basic tips/tacs/strats that i can use on the day.

its a 3v3 millenium tourney.

Are there any basic offset moves or things I should be doing to prevent us getting rolled every game?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated by me and my team.

cheers,

Andy.

Well, preperation the weeks following up to this with the rest of your team would have been a good start, its a bit late asking for advice so close to the tourney that your going to.

Best thing I can say about 3 man is pure all out aggression (not stupidity, theres a fine line).
Go out for a drink with your team-mates, get to know them if you don't know much about them already :)
Go out and have fun, think posative and keep the rest of your team posative wven when you'v just been pasted several times, if you have a couple of really good games towards the end, you'v learned something which is really the aim of these events - to learn :)

Keep communicating, always make sure your team mates know where all the players on the field are. Walk the field, and make sure you all agree on which bunkers you will go to at the start, and where next.
If you put your head out, bring your gun too! If you have a chance to move up to another bunker, take it, especially if the other team don't see you do it. Get on youtube and watch lots of videos to give a you a feel for how to play, and if you do get rolled, ask the other team what they think you did wrong - and watch all the other teams play if you can.

Cheers - praise from above indeed!
I played back in 93' then had a long break and have been playing my first sup'air games for the last 18months, and that little lot was gleaned mostly from the pages of PGI......

Ahhhh, I thought I recognised the pedigree of your advice ....it was like reading my own post :)

On a serious note, I was actually quite impressed by your post because so much 'advice' I see given on this forum is anything but, with some seeming to be the meandering thoughts of someone who doesn't really understand the fundamentals of our sport, you self-evidently aren't one of those.

At the very least, your post proves to me that PGi lives on ........ it was a great magazine and I miss it, and I know others do too .....

Walking the field is an absolute must. Go to every bunker and see what you can see, who can see who, what lanes are open and who has a shot on you when you want to bump up etc. That way, when you're playing you will know where you need to be looking, which bits of you need to be tucked in, where players are just from the angle of the paint crossing your bunker etc. Knowing the field makes communicating possible so don't just check your bunkers, know every bunker on the field so you know what's possible for your team mates as well. I can't stress the importance of walking the field enough. Know the field and communicate. Good luck and remember to have fun!
