The equipment is that light and comfy you don't really know your wearing it.

Always thought pumping my helmet up to get a proper fit was funny:eek:

Shows how time flys though as when I was into it big time the Cardinals were from St.Louis and the whipping boys of the NFC East and the Steelers weren't much better in the AFC.

AGREE TOTALLY WITH WHAT BUDDHA SAYS ABOVE

even played ironman a couple of times.tightend on offense and linebacker or defensive tackle on defense.

i was never in doubt that the steelers would take this but it certainly came down to the wire. good on the steelers for being the first franchise to win the superbowl 6(i think) times :)

Hehe - I was waiting for Jay or DW to jump in here :).

I actually like American Football (used to be a big Dolphins fan) before it became 'main stream' over here.

Actually, are the Dolphins still the only team to have a perfect season?

Yes, although last year's patriots equalled the 18-0 record, but then they lost the superbowl to the Giants giving them 18-1. Not sure what changed from '72 to recent memory in terms of schedule, possibly an extra post season game?

Well, the man has three strikes against him:
He played offense.
He played for the 'Skins.
He played for the Jets.

:D

Seriously though, his nickname was The Diesel for a reason.
What I like(d) about him, is that he's big and strong and as such has the ability to break through defenders if they make even the slightest mistake in their tackling. You can't tackle somebody like that with just one arm around him, he needs to be wrestled down. Plus he dished out some nice pops as well.
But what was really impressive about him is that despite his size, he had pretty damn good speed once out in the open. That's rare for a running back that big.

You just can't not respect a guy like that.

I guess all his qualities and skills are best examplified by this play:

If we're picking favorites, I'm going for Lyle Alzado though. :)

Although I agree that without winning the 'Bowl it ain't a perfect season, what the Pats did counts as a perfect season as well. Playoffs and bowl games are counted as post season, not season. Yards, catches, sacks and whatever stats you want to add made during the post season, do not count towards the season's total.

As for the increased amount of games: The NFL got bigger... :)

Jay, as you rightly say, the man was fast, but I also liked the fact he was a tough man, a man that shirked from nothing on that field ... I respect the fact he was a talented man, a hard man among hard men, he was extremely famous and gracious too .... a rare combination under normal circumstances.
