Hi

I’m a Paintballer currently based out of Australia. In about two months I am coming over to the UK to live.
I was hoping you might be able to help me with some questions?

I’m hoping to bring my Ego7 with me. This particular marker has zero ramping or auto modes at all, Semi ONLY – due to strict Australian firearms laws.

Due to my travel plans, I’m probably going to have to post/freight the marker to myself after I get to London.

Are there import restrictions on paintball markers?
Do I need to fill out any special paper work to import?
Do I require a firearms license or permit of any form?
Are markers restricted to semi only?

I’ve tried to ask these question via customs, but just get bounced around several different call centers.

Thanks in advance for any help!

Are there import restrictions on paintball markers? Nope, not to the UK.
Do I need to fill out any special paper work to import? Nope, but customs may stop it and charge you import duty and taxes.
Do I require a firearms license or permit of any form? Nope.
Are markers restricted to semi only? Nope - any mode except full auto (but even that is a grey area....but a generally accepted no-no!)

Hope that helps. If you know where in the UK you're going there will be folk that can point you to teams, training sites and tournaments in the area.

Getting your gun into the UK wont be a problem .

As for documents for using your EGO and owning it , you wont need any .

Unfortunately Australia is one the hardest places to get your guns in and out .

AS regards to modes over here you can have any mode you want , apart from when you play events , most events use MS ramping .

Hope this helps

Fantastic!

Thats great news!

Aussie is just crazy on gun laws & paintball.

Here's what I had to go through:

1) Need a Paintball firearms permit.

2) To get a permit you need to sit the long arms firearm safety course.

3) But to sit the course you need to handle a firearm, which you CAN NOT do with out a firearms permit/licence

4) Get an exempetion to handle a firearm to sit the course to get the permit.

5) Submit a Permit to Aquire (PTA) form to allow you to purchase a paintball marker.

6) Wait the MONTH cool off period.

7) YAY Can finally buy that shiny marker... but wait!

8) First you need to buy, install & have inspected by the Police your GUN SAFE!

This is no joke, all this, to get ONE marker.
Rince and repeat steps 5 & 6 for every marker you want to own!

So here I am with my marker stored in a firearms safe as if it was an Assualt Rifle!

Aways, thats my rant over!

Thanks heaps for the info gents! :)

Yeah pretty crazy stuff.

Get an assault rifle? I wish, ALL semi auto long arms are banned, along with pump actions. however if I wanted a handgun... Well thats ok!
Strange that semi long arms are banned, but I can get a conceilable sidearm like a Glock?!

I'm a Kiwi ex-pat, and am looking forward to (much) more relaxed laws similar to NZ! :D

Of course it varies! Different licences/permits, different departments etc... Its gotta be as difficult as possible.

Hell, paintball is still BANNED in Tazmaina!
Only just been unbanned in the last few years in some states.

I'm in New South Wales (NSW) so not sure how bad the others have it.
I even need to file paper work just to go to another state with my marker! LMAO

dont the laws vary from state to state??

bring back the illawarra steelers :D
