OK, I guess I shouldn't have called you all 'cracker-punks', and I apologise. Its just that yesterday was MLK day, today is Obama day, and I for one have gotten a little carried away.
I would love all you snow-flakes to be just as happy as I am that there is now a strong black man in charge. It shouldn't make you feel uneasy, yet in many cases in the US it does. Daily I hear about how wonder-breads want to leave the country because Obama won the election.

However:

1. If I have created an ethnic barrier between us paintballjett I humbly apologise.
2. Kitty - thanks for understanding me the best. Of course I never mean to offend.
3. Snow-wolf, I apologise to you the most, as you seem really upset, and are an intelligent poster.
4. resevoirfrog, I apologise to you the least as I feel you went too far with the rightious indignation, but its still something...
Why has everyone seemingly obsessed with mis-describing Obama?

He is not black, he is bi-racial, his mum was white for god's sake ...seems to me his white half is being ignored / jettisoned for politico/ethnic reasons and this is about as distasteful as racism itself ...I'm struggling to decide which is worse here, outright racism or outright denial of a person's ethnicity for outrageous motives.

I agree Robbo, but wouldn't you say, no more so than by the man himself?
It was a no brainer for the media, 'another white president' is no headline and even 'mixed race president' isn't as sensational, but Obama has also marketed himself as an African American candidate. Which is fine by me. It means we are one step closer to such things not being an issue at all, one step of many.
Besides I predict he is going to instigate a lot of state department aid work, and that's where I make money! :p

Maybe this should be another thread

I for one feel a lot easier having Obama in then I did that redneck Bush... However, you have once again made me feel uneasy about being white. Obama will be judged by his politics in mine and many peoples heads and his colour does not come into it.

As Robbo stated we should both be able to celebrate Obama day, but you are either being funny, which I have totally missed or you are trying to indicate I should feel uneasy (like a white guy in a Dave Chapelle gig) about supporting Obama.

Robbo, I hear you hun but regarldess its someone who isnt 100% white that seems to be the biggest factor, Its a massive step for both bi-racial and black people especially, racism still and always will exsist but in the southern states more so.

This guy has a lot to do, but honestly I am glad he is in charge, it makes me feel a little better about finialising my US visa and settling down over there. He shows strength, fire and passion to a level unseen IMO in previous presidents.

Missy, I spend alot of my time statside I am so pale even some of my white friends call me craker its never meant with hostility, those insults will be sensored on the forum lol
It took me along time to get used to alot of terms used freely over there, so I understand how it was intepreted on the forums, I just hope I explained it ok and the pitch forks have been stored away for safe keeping.

OneManBand your a muppet lol :)

Back to shoes....... I mean PB gear

Like most things in US politics, it's not about the truth, it's all about how it looks ... it disgusts me and I'm not so sure anybody can ever talk of 'progress' when it's predicated upon such an outrageous piece of deceptive marketing.

This ain't progress, it's an abomination and I for one, feel aggrieved and insulted that he/media has albeit brushed his white half under the carpet purely to facilitate his transition into the White house, anybody else see the disgusting irony in that? ...the white house????

It seems waaay too simple to make you feel uneasy about being white.
I think there are a ton of whities that supported Obama, and I don't see many of them demonstrating said 'unease'. I therefore venture that it is not myself thats causing this discomfort, but something deeper and way more sinister and disturbing.

As far as Obama not mentioning that his mamma was a white-girl, lets put this in context....

The context I choose to use is 'The Rock'.
I would like someone to tell me what nationality/race 'The Rock' actually is.

I don't see any disgusting irony in the fact that its called the White house. Not once I consider that its painted white.
Now, if you want to get into the centuries of oppression my people have endured due to decisions made in said 'white' house thats another matter....

Missy, I am not uneasy about Obama at all. I wouldnt be uneasy if he ordered all white-folk out of the white house and got black men in to do the job equally as well. Many people voted for him including white people (including me in my own way) it is you that makes me feel uneasy putting his race into it.

As for Dwayne Johnson his father is Black Canadian and his mother is Samoan but he is still bad-ass
